Author Spotlight

Hello Lynn! We are so happy to have you visiting us today at Delighted Reader!

Thanks! I’m glad to be here, and I’m so happy to be sharing this new release with you and your readers!

For my readers who aren’t familiar with you, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I started writing for publication back in 2008. I’d never really planned on a life as a writer, but when a story popped into my mind I jumped into the world of writing, and I’ve never looked back. I love it! And now, I have five of the six books Crescent Moon Press bought on the market and am very proud to have been their flagship author in their New Adult category!

Can you tell us a little about the Violet Night Trilogy?

The first book of the trilogy, Violet Midnight, was the fourth book I ever wrote. I fell in love with Emma’s strength and determination. She’s a vampire Hunter, not by choice, though. Her wrist glows when Vamps are around and doesn’t stop until she vanquishes them. Makes her college career and getting close to people a little…difficult. Emma and Jake’s adventures in love, college life, and the world of vampires span the remaining two books in the trilogy: Violet Dawn and Violet Storm.

Emma seems like a strong young woman. What is your favorite characteristic of hers?

Her strength, actually. She endured waking up in a hospital after a car crash that killed her parents and found that she had purple eyes when they were once brown, a tattoo on her wrist that glows near vampires, and a few other interesting abilities. How she coped with everything thrown at her is what I admire about her the most. Sure, she wasn’t perfect in her adjustment to her new life, but that’s what I like. Flawed people!

What drew you to writing a New Adult genre trilogy? What was the spark that inspired it?

When I started writing, I didn’t even know it was called New Adult, because that category didn’t exist back then. I was always told that my characters’ ages were too old for YA and young for Adult and that I needed to change them. I just couldn’t, though, so I kept writing. When I started hearing about New Adult, I knew that was what I wrote! And then when Crescent Moon Press took on six of my novels I was ecstatic! I’ve always thought there was a gap between the sweetness of Young Adult and the intense—sometimes graphic—romance found in Adult fiction. New Adult fills that rather nicely! Or as the NA Alley blog states it: New Adult bridges the gap between YA and Adult fiction! I’m just glad to be a part of it!

What do you like most about being an author?

Interacting with the readers. Now, I know not everyone is going to love my stories or writing style, that’s just part of the business. But when I hear my story impacts someone, or they enjoyed reading it, it just makes me smile. I especially love tweeting and Facebooking with readers as well!

Do you have any quirky or re-curring habits you perform while you are writing?

I have this favorite sweatshirt. Now, remember, I live in the desert, but I still love putting that old, ratty sweatshirt, pushing up the sleeves and digging into some serious writing or editing. Oh, and did I mention my mild addiction to chocolate? Got to have some of that around—for writing purposes of course. LOL!

How many times have you attended Authors After Dark?

This summer will be my first! I’m super excited. I’ve heard some awesome things about this conference. It’s going to be EPIC!

For the readers attending Authors After Dark, where can they find you in Savannah?

I’m one of the featured authors, so I’ll be around pretty much the entire weekend. I’m attending the Elementals Ball with my dear friend Kendall Grey! She and I are kind of known for hanging around the hotel lounges, giving away random prizes, and tweeting a ton so we can interact with the readers as much as possible. That’s the most fun!!

What are you working on next and when might our readers see it?

I have a new trilogy written: Bound By Hades. Book #1 is Forged by Fate. It’s not published or anything yet, but I’ve just started querying it, so you never know what’ll happen. That’s what’s so amazing about this industry you just never know what’s going to happen. I’m excited about this new trilogy so we’ll see where things lead…

We had a wonderful time Lynn! Thank you for stopping by!

Thanks, Shari. This was a blast. And thanks for sharing in this exciting day.

In the darkest place, the Light shines brightest.

Emma’s love saved Jake from life as a vampire. But their happily ever after is threatened by a savage Vamp seeking retribution for destroying the Avenos Trinity of Evil.

A mysterious stranger enters the mix, coinciding with the first Vamp attack in months. Emma’s new friendship, and the suspicion and deceit surrounding it, further drives a wedge between her and Jake.

To complicate things, Emma is bitten by a Vamp with abilities no one has ever seen before, and that bite has left its mark.

A mark that might tear Jake and Emma apart forever…

Lynn RushDriven to write, Lynn Rush often sees her characters by closing her eyes watching their story unfold in her mind.
