Today we have Stacey Kennedy, author of the wildly popular series, Frostbite, with us on Delighted Reader. We are so excited!
Let’s start of by having you tell us a little about yourself.
I’m thrilled to be here! A little about me…well, I’m a wife and a mom of two little monsters. I have an addiction for Starbucks and television shows like Games of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy. Other than that, I love camping, and of course, I’m totally addicted to books!
Our reviewer, Sophia Rose, adores this series, but every time I format a review she weeps because you leave it in a cliffhanger. How do you keep up everyone’s interest by doing this?
To be honest, I usually try and avoid leaving the book on a cliffhanger. I know people hate it, and well, I do, too. But it just kinda happens anyway. I think it’s partly because that’s where the story stops for me, since it’s what leads into Tess and Kipp’s next adventure. So, yeah, I blame Kipp and Tess!
What sparked the idea for the Frostbite Series?
I can’t remember what brought on these characters, but I do know I was working on another series when this idea came to me. I know that because Tess & Kipp kinda took over and I remember stopping that other series to write Supernaturally Kissed. I’m so glad I let them takeover, too, because they have been a total blast to write.
What are you feeling as the Frostbite Series comes to an end with Eternally Devoted?
Part of me sniffles every time I think that this series is over. Through edits on Eternally Devoted, I’ve shed quite a few tears. But the other part of me is happy for Tess and Kipp. Out of any couple I’ve ever written these two deserve their happily-ever-after.
When I wrote the end on Eternally Devoted, it felt complete to me and I was so happy for the couple who fought against crazy odds—like one of them being a ghost—to be together. So, yes, it’s all very bittersweet.
The Cat’s Meow was the start for the Witch’s Brew Series. How many books do you think will be in this series?
I’m a total pantser, so honestly I don’t know. I would suspect three to four, because that’s typical of me for a series. Again, though, I never know what will happen with the series until I’m writing it.
What do you like most about being an author?
Storytelling. I love creating worlds, getting creative, making things dangerous, losing myself in a romance, and throwing in lots of twists and turns. Writing the first draft is my favorite part of the writing process.
How do you keep the romance fresh and exciting?
Passion. I always find first books are usually filled with crazy amounts of lust, but I gotta admit, I find the sex scenes in later books hotter. The love between the characters is what I think makes for an exciting romantic scene.
For Tess and Kipp, their scenes have that element of intense passion because they could never touch each other. So, their scenes I’ve always thought were the hottest and most emotional because of that fact.
What types of heroes and heroines do you like to write about the most?
Alpha heroes for sure. What can I say? I love my men tough and protective. As for my heroines, they are usually spunky, hate that their guys are overly protective, and have a good sense of humor (because we all need that). They typically tend to be a tad on the smart-mouthed side, which at times can get them into trouble, and they all take an emotional journey through their series.
Right down to it, I try and write real characters we can all relate to. Like Tess, no matter of her gifts is terrified of the dark and spooky things. I find that keeps things real for me. It makes my characters seem like actual people, who are flawed and aren’t perfect, and well…I like that.
Is there an author you haven’t met that you would really like to meet?
Keri Arthur. She is my favorite author EVER. If I had the chance to meet her, I would go total fangirl!
How many times have you attended Authors After Dark? What keeps bring you back each year?
This is my second year attending. I decided to come back this year because I had such a blast last year!
What is in the works next for you?
Coming up on April 15th is WEREWOLVES BE DAMNED. It’s the first book in my new Magic & Mayhem series. These books are my favorite world to write in with witches, vampires, werewolves, and pretty much every single supernatural creature out there. They are urban fantasy romance series that follows guardian, Kyden, and guardian/witch, Nexi. I adore it…and am so excited the book will be out soon.
I also have CLAIMED that’s releasing with Random House Loveswept on August 5th. It’s a BDSM erotic romance that’s set in a club. It follows Dom, Dmitri, and Presley through their journey of seduction and desire. A very steamy read!
I’ve got a blurb for that one:
Presley Flynn is ripe to experience her secret fantasies . . . and Dmitri Pratt wants nothing more than to fulfill them. Once inside the elite Club Sin in Las Vegas, Presley is nervous but excited—and determined to surrender to her every desire. Dmitri is her Master, and his touch is like fire. With each careful, calculated caress, he unleashes her wildest inhibitions, giving her unimagined pleasure.
Presley is different than the other submissives Dimitri has mastered. The BDSM lifestyle is new to her, and so are the games they play at Club Sin. From the start, Presley stirs emotions in him far beyond the raw purity between a dom and the perfect sub. For the ecstasy they share goes beyond the dungeon igniting a passion that claims the very depths of the heart.
Thank you for joining us today Stacey! Keep tormenting Sophia Rose for us. We love watching her squirm when you release a new book!
Thanks for having me by! Tormenting and teasing Sophia is what I do best. J

Tess Jennings, who has been gifted with the ability to see ghosts, struggles to help the Grand Master of the Animus, Alexander, cross over. She might even have discovered who murdered him, but she has no way to prove it.
Adding to her pile of failures, Tess must accept a harsh reality—she has officially run out of time. The closer she gets to an answer to save her ghost lover, Kipp McGowen, the more she’s realizing she’s been searching for an answer she didn’t want to find.
Tess will have to make difficult choices, and her decisions will lead to consequences she cannot predict. Will Kipp finally take a living breath again, or will Tess take her last and join him in the Netherworld forever?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Stacey Kennedy writes romance that sometimes gets very naughty. She’s an urban fantasy lover at heart, but she also enjoys losing herself in dark and sensual worlds. She lives in Southwestern Ontario with her husband who gave her a happily ever after. Together, they have two small children who can always make her smile, and who will never be allowed to read mommy’s books. If she’s not plugging away at a new story, you’ll find her camping, curling up with the latest flick, or obsessing over Sons of Anarchy and Games of Thrones.
