Short enough to fit into an afternoon, but also full of intrigue, lust and deep emotions to feel you got a full story.
Run out and get this one while it is still free, but be warned. It does conclude at the end of the story, but there are more installments in this series. I know, I accidentally picked up one of the other ones a few months back only to feel lost.
Skye and Trace were young, in love and flat broke once upon a time. Skye had big dreams of dancing, but was so deeply in love with Trace she was willing to give it up. Trace didn’t have a future or money to provide for Skye. Putting her dreams above anything, he harshly breaks it off with her sending her on to New York, dancing and a life without him. He signs up for the military, but never forgets the one woman he loved with all his being.
Ten years changes both of them. Skye makes it big on New York, but a freak accident takes away her dancing career. Moving back to Chicago she thinks she has left all her problems behind, but someone starts to stalk her, but leaves no clues. The police don’t believe her so she turns to the one man she thinks will take her serious, Trace.
Trace never stopped loving Skye. He keeps up on her life from a distance for years and is just ready to try to rekindle their love when Skye shows up at his business. His business is security, but the kind you don’t talk about. Thinking this is his chance again, he puts his all into protecting Skye but also making her realize he never stopped loving her even though he hurt her badly.
Trace comes off as having dark secrets. No one talks about his days in the military. He has shown Skye his darker side and she accepted him. But you just don’t know exactly if he will cherish Skye or drag her into his darkness. Skye pretty much was what I expected. Her career on Broadway is over and now she is trying to make the most of it by opening a dance studio. She doesn’t want to risk her heart, but she isn’t scared of Trace.
While the story wraps up for the most part, you know there are more installments to come. I might go onto the next one because I know I own it, but after that….well, I am not so sure. The suspense was captivating and has you guessing from person to person who doing this to Skye. The romance is fast, furious and full of passion. But the secrets they are holding is what will drive me nuts in future books I think.
