Finding my fire extinguisher as I try to read about Denver in bed with Cherry. Seriously, I love this guy! And Cherry’s nice too 🙂
I never knew alpha fighters could be so sexy. I mean, I never really cared for any of the fighting sports. While I still don’t think I will ever be a fan, I do so enjoy them men and women in Lori Foster’s Ultimate series.
What’s a MMA fighter to do when presented with a lusciously curved woman who is light, bubbly and oh, so sweet? Denver Lewis asks himself that daily as he tries hard to resist getting close to Cherry Peyton. Housemate to Merissa, Cannon Colter’s little sister, Cherry is at the center and matches where he can’t seem to avoid her. But she isn’t going to wait around forever for him, so he takes her up on the offer and spends a night losing himself in the flirty, sexy woman that is is Cherry. Afterwards, possessive doesn’t even begin to describe his feelings for her.
Working a pre-school is fun, but for real action, Cherry hangs out with the MMA gang. Be it at the local center for training and youths or on the road watching her favorite fighters. Crushing on Denver is never hard on the eyes, but a lady can only take the get lost hints so long before she turns to find another man. When Denver turns on his alpha maleness and tender adorations, she melts like butter on a frying pan.
Independent to the extreme, a old problem creeps back into her life threatening her life and her new found relationship with Denver. Does she run, stand up an make a stand or lean on her friends who have her back in any situation? Throw in some history between Denver, his stepmom and father that give Denver trust issues and you have a classic romance story that will sweep you off your feet.
Denver, oh sweet delicious Denver. He is that male that takes care of his woman, protects her, feeds her, loves her and makes sure she knows she is on his mind. He was almost too perfect until you figure out he has trust issues. He wants Cherry to open up to him and at times it comes across high handed and demanding. Making up for that in bed….oh, the frickin’ sheets are on fire again just thinking of him.
Throw in Cherry having a horrible childhood that has caused her to keep it a secret and try to escape it. It’s caught up with her. She never has had anyone stand up for her so why would she think any different….oh, yes, wait. MMA fighters. They take care of their own. Not just Denver, but Cannon, Artie, Stack, Gage…and many many more men who take care of the ones they love and their community.
I love getting to see Cannon and Yvette getting closer to their wedding date. Artie still frustrates me and I want his story the most. How can this guy be so stand up, an ass to Merissa, sleep around with any woman or women, avoid moving up in the fighting world and …and…and! He just needs a Gibbs head bop!
I love hanging out in this world Lori Foster has created. It’s amusing, lighthearted at times, suspenseful and more than just sexy…damn there go the sheets again thinking of Denver. I better stop there before the house burns down. You get my point.

I know it’s kind of cliché but this is the song that kept coming to mind as I read Holding Strong.
