2015-Wrap-Up

I did this post last year and thought it was a great way to see my year in review. I still have trouble be succinct enough for a blog post so I’m just going to follow the same format. You’ve read my reviews so you know that ‘short’, ‘brief’, and ‘succinct’ aren’t in my genetic make-up when it comes to writing. I’ve also read tons of books this year (445 at the time of this post with still another 30 days to add to that) so it’s hard to narrow it down though I tried hard. So here’s what I’ve got:

Awesome Series I’ve started (finally) this year:

  1. Everything I Left Unsaid by Molly O’Keefe CR
  2. No Man’s Land by Tygati M/M Sci-Fi R
  3. Killer Instincts by Elle Kennedy Rom Susp
  4. Poldark by Winston Graham HF
  5. Yours By Design by Robin Helm PNR-Insp R
  6. Kit’s Hill by Jean Stubbs HR

Fond Farewells to Series I’ve Caught up or Ended:

  1. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews UF (finally caught up)
  2. Lux by Jennifer Armentrout YA Sci-F R (no, not over, one more coming, whew!)
  3. Sins Brothers by Rebecca Zanetti Sci-Fi RomSusp (please don’t let it be the end)
  4. Dark Protectors by Rebecca Zanetti PNR(ditto)
  5. London Steampunk by Bec McMasters SP-PNR(spin-offs will save my mental health)
  6. Blud by Delilah S. Dawson SP-PNR (whew, still depressed its over)
  7. Burying Water by KA Tucker NA RomSusp
  8. Shattered Past by Cecy Robson NA CR (happily, we have another spin-off)
  9. Between Breaths by Christina Lee NA CR
  10. Cambridge Fellows by Charlie Cochrane M/M H-RomSusp (and she kept writing beyond the finale, bless her pea-picking heart)

Couldn’t Get My Money Out Fast Enough Favorites this year:

  1. Crash & Burn by Abigail Roux M/M Rom Susp (Ty and Zane, ‘nuff said)
  2. Dark Skye by Kresley Cole PNR (needed this couple for several books now)
  3. Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs UF (and these would be my exercise in patience as I wait patiently for each year’s release)
  4. Darker Than Desire by Shiloh Walker Rom Susp(the intense last book was going home with me no matter what)
  5. Who Buries the Dead by CS Harris H-My(Sebastian St. Cyr is my crack)

Made Me Cry (Some authors are literary sadists)

  1. Thunder on the Plains by Rosanne Bittner HR
  2. Outlaw Hearts by Rosanne Bittner HR
  3. Do Not Forsake Me by Rosanne Bittner HR (and yes, there is a pattern, folks)
  4. A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson UF(never saw a heroine take so much crushing stuff)
  5. Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan M/M NA CR(happy tears, mostly, such incredible strength for two guys with severe disabilities to triumph)
  6. Longbourn’s Songbird by Beau North HR(Oh the feels)

Laughter is the Best Medicine Winners

  1. The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop by Carolyn Brown CR(laughed hard enough to wheeze)
  2. Playing the Fool Trilogy by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock M/M Rom Susp(oh lord, the sniping and comebacks just killed me)
  3. Grizzly Love by Eve Langlais PNR(the queen of light paranormal)
  4. Seventh Grave and No Body by Darynda Jones UF (you haven’t lived ‘til you caught a Charley Davidson on audio- giggles and snorts were the thing)
  5. Love At First Slight by J. Marie Croft HR (oh, the puns and wit kept it lively)

Made Me Squirm in a Good Way

  1. Counterpunch by Aleksandr Voinov M/M FR( slave society romance)
  2. Closer Than You Think by Karen Rose Rom Susp(serial killer that gave me the heebie jeebies)
  3. Where Darkness Lies by Bella Jewel CR(intense and dramatic revenge/captive romance)
  4. Captive Prince by CS Pascat M/M FR(another slave society with court intrigue thrown in)
  5. Break Me Down by Roni Loren ER (bring on the heat with a Domme/submissive and a solid plot)

Just Incredible For Various Reasons

  1. Bone Rider by J. Fally M/M Sci-Fi R (because it was a unique romance between two men and an alien living inside one of the men).
  2. According to Hoyle by Abigail Roux M/M HR (because I eat up the snarky, humor, action, passion and intrigue of her stories)
  3. After the War by Jessica Scott CR (because she knows how to write real when she writes military romance)
  4. Tiffany Girl by Deanne Gist HR (One of the best sweet Historical Romance authors)
  5. Remember When by T. Torrest YA CR (Made me so nostalgic over the ‘80s)
  6. I’ll Stand by You by Sharon Sala CR (Beautiful small town heartwarmer)
  7. Yours Forevermore, Darcy by KaraLynne Mackrory HR (swoony romantic letters)

Any of these your favs or your favorite to loathe?
Love to hear about your favs, new plunges or memorable reads.
Do share or leave a link for me to check out what you’ve got.

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

There are so many wonderful books out there and I love finding books on other people’s lists to try.

Ah, Ty and Zane. Sad that this series has ended. I don’t know how many Sidewinder books she has planned, but I will take them just for more Ty and Zane. You have many great books on your list that I love and many that I want to try.

Yeah, Ty and Zane are going to be re-reads I think. I just read the third Sidewinder and had some nervous moments because it feels like a wrap-up story, but hopefully, it won’t be.

I’ve gotten so many books off other people’s lists this year that I look forward to trying.

I’ve read very few of these. I still haven’t finished the Lux series by JLA. I’ve read all but the final one. And the one from daemon’s POV.

I’m curious about K.A. Tucker’s books. I’ve heard good things.

LOL! I took forever to read the last JLA Lux book. I didn’t want it to all be over, but then I saw that she wrote a final one from Daemon’s POV and that gave me the impetus to finish. I even read on through the new Daemon one. Have you read the adult standalone from the Arum POV, Obsession? I loved that one, too.

wow look at you go Sophia!!! I just love Bittner and Jewel…they are so great to read. Great job at catching up with the Kate Daniels series….I only have a couple more books to go and I am all caught up on that one. Great that you mentioned Dark Skye….I have that on my bookshelf and need to read it soon. Its my plan for January to read it.

Yes, we share some good favorites. Have you picked up Wildest Dreams, yet? Another Bittner that made me cry. 🙂

Dark Skye wasn’t amazing, but it was still really good. Loved finally getting their back story.

Great post! 2015 was a great year for reading. You found so many awesome books this year and that’s great you finished or got caught up on so many series. I know there are some series I really want to get catched up on. I started the Burying Water series this year and have almost finished the series, only one more book to read. I am still halfway through the Lux series and haven’t been in a hurry to continue, I read the first two books, but was a bit disapointed with the second one and haven’t continued the series… Read more »

Thanks! It was both fun and intense to narrow down my choices for this post. Many are five stars for me, but some are not. Yes, I was glad to see that you liked the Burying Water series. It’s sometimes a relief that a series isn’t too long so it isn’t as intimidating to start it. I was actually startled that there were only four books, but then again, she didn’t go very long with her Ten Tiny Breaths series which I enjoyed all, but one of those. The Lux series took me a while. I didn’t like book two… Read more »

Whew, yowsers Bittner can turn me inside out. I’m reading another one now that has had me sniffling several times. Gah, and it’s only half-way through.

What?! London Steampunk series ended?! I didn’t even realised… Dawson had a great ending for her series as well.

Sophia Rose

Yes, it’s done. Boohoo! She says that she is going to write a spin-off series in the same world with the younger generation of characters. I can’t wait.
