Welcome to my first post of the year of the Blog All About It Challenge.  This is the beginning of my second year participating.

What’s it all about?

Very simple!  Each month I take the word prompt for that month and create a blog post of anything I want using that word.  My personal goal for participating in this challenge is for you to learn a bit about me each month. This month my focus will be on the PINK in my life.

This month’s prompt is: PINK

So pink…

I know a lot of folks feel strongly about this color and many seem to hate it particularly when it is lavishly splashed about around Valentine’s Day or comes in a certain bottle labeled Peptobismol.

Personally, I’ve always rather liked the color especially when it is a bright or hot pink.  It’s perky and pleased with itself (yes, even smug about it). I didn’t wear it much until my early twenties, but then my taste changed and I took a real liking to it.  I’ve worn it to church, to weddings, college classes, gardening, and even on a softball jersey. One of my favorite stay at home shirts used to be this old pink plaid flannel that was soft and cozy for outside chores.  I will occasionally use a hot pink flower-covered handbag, wear bold pink socks with cats, and several of my dress scarves and one winter scarf are as cheeky pink as you can get.

So, yes, I’m a fan.

Color me surprised though when I decided I would share with you some favorite pink book covers.  I was brought to a screeching halt. Seriously, I’ve just now had an epiphany about book covers. Pink is not the colour du jour of many of my favorite genres.

I found pink covers from my tiny Inspirational Fiction pile, from my Austenesque pile, and yes, it was well repped well in Historical Romance set in Regency or Victorian eras, BUT it is apparently not a color for Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Sci-Fi, Romantic Suspense, Mysteries and Thrillers, Dystopian, many contemporaries and more.  I gave it my best shot and even found a bit of pink on an Urban Fantasy in the title color. What gives? Pink is a romantic color, right? (see mention in first paragraph) Hot pink can be kick butt, yeah? Or, maybe I’m in the minority and don’t hate on it so it won’t affect my buying habits. Hehe!

What’s your take on it?  Pinkalicious or Pink Stinks?  Do tell!

I tried. LOL

I don’t mind pink at all. I have 1 pink shirt and even pink earrings.

Sophia Rose

Yay! Another brave soul who wears it, too. 🙂

I like pink and wear it. There’s lots of shades of pink out there! I don’t see that many pink covers though-you are right.

Sophia Rose

It perks one up to wear, I think. 🙂

Yeah, not many, and now I want to go walk through a book store and see if its true overall and not just my own shelves. 🙂

I have always had a penchant for pink, and I wear it without shame.

Pink rules! Woohoo! 🙂

I don’t know that I have a favorite color and will really wear any color. I am not picky as long as it is comfortable…lol. I do think that there might be a little too much pink in the world. My mom has had breast cancer 3 times in the past 25 years and I think that almost everything she owns has something to do with pink ribbons and breast cancer awareness. It does become too much at times but I get it.

Ah yes, that would definitely put a different slant on the color with that sort of connotation. Ha, yes, comfort is definitely where its at these days for me, too. 🙂

I’m a fan of pink. I don’t have much in my wardrobe, but I do like the color. And pink covers are just fine with me.

Sophia Rose

Yeah, I have mostly darker or neutral colors in the wardrobe so it probably looks like I don’t like it much, but I do.

It would be fun to see more pink covers.

I ADORE pink as you can tell if you visit my blog. I do like softer tones of pink though, but I really love all shades.

Sophia Rose

Yes, you do rep the color well, Renee. 🙂

Ooh a Briggs book used it in the title color- that’s kinda cool. 🙂 I never thought about pink before in terms of books but that’s interesting. Now I’ll be looking at books with the colors in mind for a while haha!

Fun post!

I never gave it much thought, either, Greg, but it is seriously under repped out there in bookcover land. 🙂 Yes! It was the only UF I could find with pink in it- go Briggs!

LOL yeah come to think of it not too much pink in some genres. Cozies have some but usually are just colorful covers.

Sophia Rose
Guest

Oh yes, good point. Cozies tend to have soft pastel covers and I do remember some pinkish ones…

Not a fan of pink myself, but your mix of books and things look lovely! So I guess I don’t mind them on Book covers but not one to buy it on clothes , fabric etc. Does that make sense?

Sophia Rose
Guest

Yes, I do get that. I can appreciate some colors only in certain places. Book jackets, CDs, Movies, etc, any color works, but colors I’ll wear or want in a curtain? totally different. 🙂

Snap. I still need to do my post.
I did not like pink until I was older. I liked it as a kid, but then thought it was too girlie. Now, I like it again.

Sophia Rose

Interesting how it waxed and waned depending on your age range. Maybe that was me, too. I was all about the yellow when I was a kid and then purple, but pink infiltrated later. 🙂

I have quite a few pink books. I wish I had taken a picture of them for this months BAAI before packing them for our move. oops.

I don’t mind pink but I don’t like to wear it.

Now, I will be curious about what pink books you have, LOL. I do not envy you with the moving. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Yes, I get that about liking it in general, but not for certain things like clothes. 🙂

I used to dislike pink when I was younger, but nowadays I kinda like it. Mostly for pajamas and towels tough, lol. I can’t think of many cover that are pink, I do remember some with pink fonts tough.

Isn’t funny how tastes can change about color? Neat how you started to like it for some of your housewares. Yeah, a cover search for pink can be a challenge for anything outside sweet romances and historical romance. 🙂
