{Day 1} YOUR BLOGGER RESOLUTIONS.

Welcome to the first day of Parajunkee’s New Feature called Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge! For the next two weeks I will be joining in and trying to get my blogging mojo back and make 2014 the best year yet!

I don’t usually make New Year’s Resolutions because frankly, I can’t stick to them. But this is one year I need to make some changes and get back to having fun. So let’s get to it!

1. CUTTING THE BUDGET AND KEEPING IT CUT!
2. MORE YAKKETY YAK LET’S CHAT
3. MORE REVIEWS!
4. THE COMMENT CHALLENGE – GETTING EVERYONE TO COMMENT MORE!
5. UPGRADE THE FEATURES OF THE BLOG
6. FINDING A BALANCE
7. COMMENTING ON BLOGS

More information about each one….

  1. Cutting the Budget – I started a new feature a few months ago called cutting the budget. Well, we had to move hosting providers and I am still working on cleaning that all up. I just ran out of time to keep up with it. But we are starting it up again this week and changing a few things. Watch for the new Cutting the Budget feature!
  2. More Yakkety Yak Let’s Chat – I have so much i want to talk about and just never can get them down on screen for you. Well, I am getting a list together and starting to get them out there. To keep it groovy, I am going to open up topics for readers to suggest and hopefully we can make this a fun feature for Delighted Reader!
  3. More reviews – well this was the year I opened up positions for reviewers and one by one they have left us. So it is back to Sophia Rose, Rhonda and I, the first three reviewers here. I haven’t decided if I want to add more reviewers yet or not. With each reviewer, more work is generated for me and there were days I couldn’t keep up. So I am looking for a good balance of reviews to reviewers and letting you decide what is enough.
  4. The Comment Challenge – I started a new feature called the Comment Challenge last year and for a few readers, it worked great. What I hoped was to generate more comments for both myself and my fellow romance review bloggers. Well, it kind of backfired on me since the majority of the comments went to other blogs, which was ok. Also, if I didn’t offer a giveaway, no one participated. Heck, even if I offered a giveaway (one week), no one entered. So I am looking for ways to jump up the comments on review blogs and get more reader interaction.
  5. Upgrading features – with the redesign and move, some things just broke on the blog. Some I was able to fix right away and others have given me nothing but grief. So I am going to make a list and fix one thing at a time until hopefully I can be happy. Will that day ever come?
  6. Finding a Balance – blogging can be overwhelming. Throw in my family life with three kids, cancer rocking the family, ADHD and ODD pushing me to pull out my hair with my kids, and trying to read to review and I just felt at times like I didn’t get anything done. This is a new year and I am going to get this balanced and organized!
  7. Commenting on Blogs – I just need to do better about making my way around to my favorite blogs and commenting!

What are YOUR blogging resolutions?

The following two tabs change content below.
Shari is the Delighted Reader. Married to her Prince Charming and mother to two Princesses and one Prince. When she is not slaving away as Cinderella she loves to get lost in the pages of a good book. Never without a reading device and a few good paperback books, because she never knows when she might get 5 minutes to read!

Oiy my budget…its totally normal to spend 35% of your annual income on books right? -.-;; Good luck!! I hope you’re able to succeed!

  • Jennifer @ The Book Nympho

Great list and totally do able. Good luck with your resolutions.

  • I love you find more balance this year Shari. I know I find it tough keeping up with my blogging and trying to live a life outside of the internet too. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you.

Your resolutions look great. Good luck with them all 🙂

    Happy New Year!

  • Happy New Year Shari & Sophia!

I hope you guys find your balances for 2014 as it can be tough! Good Luck & I will definitely be talking to you in 2014 😀

    • Thank you, Sharonda! Love when you stop by and visit just as I love to pop by and see what you have going on. Happy New Year too.

  • Nicole Hewitt

Seems like lots of people have commenting more as one of their resolutions – you’re not the only one!!

  • I’m going for cutting my budget too, but also add cut down my TBR and review pile (which if I do the last I shouldn’t have trouble w/ the first). 😉

  • I’m going to do more reviews and less book hoarding. In fact I’m staying away from digital arcs for the month of January so i can purge some titles in my ereader.

Participate less on bookmark tours coz they take up a lot of my time.

Comments, yes I want to improve this for my blog too! It’s so motivating to see people stopping by and hopefully reading what I have to post. So if you’re a regular at Talk Supe, rest assured that I will return the visit here.

  • Yay, I love discussion posts! I can’t wait to see what you have in store.

I saw the Comment Challenge. Shoot, I possibly even joined it…but life interfered and I couldn’t keep up. It was a fantastic idea. I’m sorry that it didn’t work out for you. Maybe you can tweak it a little for this year?

  • I LOVE how you worded number 2! This is one I wan to work on too. 🙂 ALso balance is important. Happy New Year!
