Welcome to Book Music Monday! Here at Delighted Reader we love to listen to music as we read. Often we find music that screams to us it needs to be the cover song for a book. So why not express that and have a little fun along the way. It’s easy to join in! See below for more details!

I have held off for several weeks mentioning a song by one of my favorite bands, Pop Evil. They aren’t as well known as I would have liked, but that’s ok, I still love them.

This week I am pairing Monster You Made with the dark Aeron from The Darkest Passion by Gena Showalter. This is the  fifth book in the Lords of the Underworld Series based on Immortals who are possessed with demon Wrath. Whenever Aeron senses a lie or a misdeed, he in essence brings down wrath onto them. When the angel Olivia is tasked with his assignation, she can’t do it, falling head over heels, literally in love with Aeron. During the first several books in this series, you see Aeron war with his demon not to kill based upon a God’s command and becomes a monster. After the situation is defused, he senses Olivia watching him even though he can’t see her. He goes deeper and deeper into being a monster. The lyrics below talk to me of this story.

 I’m better alone now
See I’m torn from my mistakes
And I stop believing that I could ever make things change
How much can I take
When I know that it hurts you
How long can I wait
When I cant go on like this anymore

Erase this monster I’ve become
Forgive me for all the damage done
It’s not over
Say it’s not over
I’m begging for mercy
I’m only the monster you made me

Below is the video of the song, which talks more to addiction. It is still a powerful song. What do you think? Do the song and book match up?
