Welcome to Book Music Monday! Here at Delighted Reader we love to listen to music as we read. Often we find music that screams to us it needs to be the cover song for a book. So why not express that and have a little fun along the way. It’s easy to join in! See below for more details!

This week I am pairing Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward with Art of Dying’s Get Thru This. Listening to the lyrics of Get Thru This is deep. It talks to deep pain that he has to get through to survive. I am only 10% into Lover Reborn, but Thor has been in so many books that I feel his pain over losing Wellsie. I just got done reading a scene where all I wanted to do was cry. I could hear this song playing while I read the scene.
I’ve seen better days So says the mirror It’s hard to find divinity when you’re the king of men
If I can get through this I can get through anything If I can make it through this I can get through anything I promise you
It could be much worse But the call is close Tomorrow’s my reason for today to let go
If I can get through this I can get through that If you cut me wide open I can cut you some slack If you come when I’m leaving I might never be back I know it’s not easy just a matter of fact
The bolded lyrics above are the ones that really hit me. Thor has been cut wide open with the loss of his shellan. He can cut everyone slack but himself and the lessers. Then the part about leaving he might never is what happens in previous books. He disappears and an angel brings him back.
I am eager to read more of this book but at the same time I am still grieving for Wellsie and having a hard time with Thor moving on even though I need him too.
So what do you think? Do these two speak to each other?
