Welcome to Book Music Monday! Here at Delighted Reader we love to listen to music as we read. Often we find music that screams to us it needs to be the cover song for a book. So why not express that and have a little fun along the way. It’s easy to join in! See below for more details!
This week my pairing surprised me. The song is upbeat but the lyrics really spoke to me. The book is dark and for some reason the song didn’t jump out at me until I listened to the lyrics closely. Pairing Sins of Angels by Linda Poitevin with Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters Run and tell all of the angels I’m looking to the sky to save me If you have read the book, you know Aramael is hunting his brother, who has escaped. His brothers not a really nice guy at all. The Deity has taken away free will in essence from the Angels, but Aramael is feeling something that was just erased from his core. He really doesn’t want to hunt his brother again as the first time destroyed him. So the song speaks to me about his struggle to not be put into service once again to hunt his brother. He is looking for a new revolution, a sign of life, anything to get this over with. So what do you think? Do these two fit together?
This could take all night
Think I need a devil to help me get things right
Hook me up a new revolution
Cause this one is a lie
We sat around laughing and watched the last one die
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something to help me burn out bright
I’m looking for a complication
Looking cause I’m tired of trying
Make my way back home when I learn to fly high

I’ve read the book and I think these lyrics match nicely. Good choice!
Thanks Sophia! It just seemed to fit this week!
I haven’t read this one yet, but it’s on my tbr. I really enjoy The Foo Fighters.
I knew I wanted a Foo Fighter song this week and I was listening to the lyrics when this just hit me as perfect together!
I just discovered this feature of yours, and I loved this week’s entry! I am a fan of Linda’s novel and these lyrics fit the story and the mood of the book really well. Will have to listen to the song later (I’m at work right now). Thank you!
Thanks Stella! The song just said what the book was about. I was surprised when I saw the lyrics that I sing, but never really thought about. Work does interfere, lol.
