The Book Report December 2015

The-Book-Report

Welcome to The Book Report where we run down everything that happened in the month and update you on challenges, giveaways, reviews and more!

Shari’s Update

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I can’t believe 2015 is over. I am sitting here on Christmas Eve writing this up as I stare in the dark at my Christmas tree. It’s hard to believe Christmas is here already and the year is about to end. Here’s looking to 2016.

Reading slowed down significantly with December coming in at 9 books read. On the good side, I have 20 reviews posted for this month. Going to find a balance between these two for 2016.

Challenges ole sweet challenges. I nailed you all! *Fist pump* I really didn’t think I was going to make it on my last three challenges, but I pushed through and woke up at 5 am to get it all done. I am exhausted and  ready to start over … you know how you avoid challenges for a few months then go all crazy at crunch time? That will be me again next year.

Without further ado, I give you the final challenge numbers for 2015.

Sophia Rose’s Update

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everybody!

Yes it has been crazy busy getting stuff done and preparing to spend the holidays with family and friends. My better half works for the shipping industry so it gets nuts this time of the year and I rarely see him as he works his double shifts and weekends. But soon, we will rest and relax and pull out the pressies we hid away. I think I managed to keep him in the dark this year. What about you? Do you have one of those types that either find where you hid the gifts or accidentally buy the same thing for themselves? Fun, right?

As to books, this is my last check in for the year. Holy Toledo, Batman, it’s December!!!! My total for the month will be 29. There are still eleven days left of the month and I will definitely read more, but I’m cutting off my count early to get this turned in.

Breakdown: 11 Netgalley requests (88%), 20 author/publisher requests, 12 audios (most I’ve read in a month ever), 4 new series, 2 end of series, 5 new to me authors, 4 TBR pile

Reading Challenge Updates:

Throughout the year, I stopped including those challenges that I reached top level possible and I’ve put together a separate post with the details of my where I finished with those.   The short version is that I met and succeeded with every challenge. I’ve also put together yet another post of what I will tackle in 2016.

Therefore, I am taking the time to thank all the hostesses and blogs of the challenges I chose to participate in this year. You all did a fantastic job of organizing and formatting and I had a vast deal of fun while trying to complete your challenges.

To Be or Not To Be…Read

I was able to read a total of 11 books this year as voter choice and all of them were four star reads or higher. This was a very fun way of working at my TBR Pile and older review books. I need the kick in the pants sometimes because I’m a mood reader or get in those modes of panic when I see a pile and there are too many choices. J Thank you so much for participating and picking me winners each and every time. This month, I gave you a more complex task by pairing my choices. Looking forward to what you pick for me to read in the new year.

Books that Stood Out

Ready to Fall by Daisy Prescott, CR, engaging everyday joe hero

The Shadows by JR Ward, PNR, for having the guts to go there with a story

Oblivion by Jennifer Armentrout, YA Sci-Fi Rom, longest freaking book of the year 1005 pages

December 2015 Reviews

Did you miss a review? No fear! Here’s what we wrote about in the month of November.

The following two tabs change content below.
Shari is the Delighted Reader. Married to her Prince Charming and mother to two Princesses and one Prince. When she is not slaving away as Cinderella she loves to get lost in the pages of a good book. Never without a reading device and a few good paperback books, because she never knows when she might get 5 minutes to read!
  • Great job gals!!

    • Shari Delighted Read

      Thanks Melanie! Happy New Year!

    • It was a fun reading year.

  • You ladies did great with your challenges. I stopped doing them because I’d stop keeping tack 3 months in, so good for you.

    • Shari Delighted Read

Sorry to hear you stopped doing them. It came down to crunch time this year to get them all done. I thought I was going to fail on 3 of them, but I made it!

    • For me, it’s the link ups that are the hard part. Oh well, maybe this next year you’ll do it. 🙂
