We get to Cappy’s story! He’s the leader of the group so I had a hard time wrapping my head around him falling in love. Loyal and quiet, I just had a hard time picturing him in love. Throw in a heroine who has gone through Hell, but never forgot the man who saved her. She’s the rock that holds them together.
The son of the Senator turns up dead and a video of his last moments turns up, everyone is on the hunt for Michelle Alger. On the run now with no one to turn to, she calls a number. A number of a man who once saved her and said he would be there no questions asked, only to die in battle. Dare she call? Yes! Who else could it be? Cappy of course! Now the senator is chasing her and drug lords from her past (no she wasn’t into drugs) running her down, she has to rely on the one man who saved her once.
Well, good ole Captain Jeremy Malone, now Cappy to the Delta Squad, has the Senator breathing down his neck to bring in the woman who killed his son. Jeremy doesn’t believe for a minute Michelle did it. But the video shows her going into his room and running out quickly. Who else could it be? Does he save the woman he had a connection too or turn her over to the senator and let her flounder on her own?
Jeremy’s had an instant connection to Michelle from the moment he saved her. Six years hasn’t done anything to kill the sparks that fly between these two. But there really isn’t a lot of bedroom time. The first sexual encounter doesn’t come until later in the book, and kind of left me feeling blah. These two are sweet together, but I just didn’t feel a spark ignite from my Kindle.
Being part of a black ops unit you have a very close knit family. Like every family they have their squabbles, snarky moments, but when the chips are down, they have each others backs. We get some closer time with Romeo as he works out some feelings he has which was a delight to see him start to realize a few things. Wraith is back with her man and Talon threatening him in each encounter. I still want to crack Magician’s head open and figure out what she is thinking! Throw an operative from another team and you have a snarky, lovable team of characters that will kill you if you mess with their own.
The action was the prime part of the story as you race against time to see if Cappy can save Michelle. Will the cartel get her again? Or will the Senator destroy her life? Will she see her parents again? Is Witness Protection over? So many questions that you will have to read the book to find out. Seriously, what are you waiting for. Go! Go! Go buy the book!
