First Impressions: Running On Empty by SE Jakes

Howdy, Delighted Readers!

I’m trying something a little different today and hopefully it will have some appeal for you. Usually, when I participate in a tour post, you see me as interviewer or reviewer, but today I’m trying out something new.  I want to give you my pre-read thoughts on this exciting new release from SE Jake’s Havoc MC series.

First Impression: Running On Empty

There are many factors that make this book a no-brainer, must-read ASAP.

First of all, author.  Love SE Jake’s exciting, down and dirty, gritty storytelling style she puts into her special ops and biker thriller romances.

Secondly, this is from a series that have offered high ratings in both print and audio for me with earlier books.

Finally, this is the third book in her Havoc MC series and it takes up an ongoing story thread that I definitely wanted especially with where things left off in the second book.

Okay, and, have you seen that cover!?!

The Prediction:  Gonna love it!

I credit Shari @ Delighted Reader’s PreOrder: What Have We Bought Now posts and Misty @ The Book Rat’s First Impression YouTube posts for the idea.

About Running on Empty

After years of running wild, Linc might’ve finally run out of road.

After a brutal capture at the hands of the Heathens Motorcycle Club, Linc is just trying to heal, mentally and physically. But he’s got men in his life who are complicating everything. There’s Mercy—a Havoc MC biker and the man he is falling fast for—plus an undercover ATF agent and a rogue Havoc member.

But Mercy’s keeping him at arm’s length, and Linc is spinning. In an attempt to regain his equilibrium, he heads to the bar where he first met Mercy. Night after night, he escapes Havoc bonds and continues down his merry path of mayhem . . . mainly in the hopes that Mercy will give chase.

Since Linc’s capture by his old MC, Mercy’s been dealing with the fallout of his guilt. He’s trying to give Linc space and still watch over him—all without Linc’s knowledge. But with Linc’s old job calling and a threat to Havoc MC heating up, can they make their way back together?

Now available from Riptide Publishing.

About the Havoc Series

Welcome to Shades Run, where the notorious Havoc Motorcycle Club runs wild and free. Havoc’s got a long reach and strong community ties, and is always on the lookout for infiltrators like ATF agents, car thieves, and others who might harm their enterprises. Havoc’s community is tough to penetrate, but once these hard-living motorcycle men have taken you in, saved your life (maybe after threatening it a few times), or even fallen in love with you, you’re Havoc MC forever. Unless you’re one of their enemies, in which case you’re completely out of luck.

Check out Havoc today.

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

While MC romances and I never seem to get along, this does sound fun. I love the format Sophia

Yeah, I am picky about the MCs I end up considering favs. I like both this series and the Vipers MC ones that she does as Stephanie Tyler,

Yay, glad you liked the First Impressions idea.

I don’t think this would be one for me, but I’m glad you are enjoying the series 🙂

No worries! I get it that this is a niche one and not a universal appeal type. 🙂

I’ve been looking for a new biker series! I’ve never read anything by S.E. Jakes, but she sounds like an amazing author! It’s always wonderful to pick up the next book in a series of books that you have enjoyed so much, and wrap up those story threads that you have wanted to finish! Thanks for sharing Sophia 🙂

She writes m/f MC romances as Stephanie Tyler, too. I love the Viper ones and its fun to see the mild crossover moments.
I do like how she keeps the story threads moving along and concludes them while still leaving enough for more in the next book.

Her covers are great. I don’t think there is one that I haven’t liked. 🙂
