I’m so excited to be at Delighted Reader for today’s stop on the Release Me blog tour! The book’s been out for four days now, and I’m thrilled at the wonderful feedback from readers. Thanks so much to everyone who’s bought or spread the word about the book—I so appreciate the support (and all the wonderful feedback I’ve received via Facebook, Twitter and email)!
I’ve done a couple of interviews that have asked what my soundtrack is when I write, and I’ve answered consistently that I don’t write with music (unless I’m trapped in a hotel room with my kids, and then music is a survival mechanism).
I’ve also mentioned that although I used to write with the television in the background, I don’t do that any more. Why the change? I honestly don’t know, but like all writers I have to abide by the muse’s rules (except when the muse wants to sluff off for the day, and then I have to kick the muse’s butt).
But the one thing I don’t think I’ve mentioned is that sometimes I can have the television on in the background. I only just thought of it, actually, because I’m in the process of revising the Claim Me manuscript to turn into my editor next week.
It’s fascinating, but while I can’t write with something on in the background, I can edit.
But to what? Well, strangely I can’t have just anything on in the background. If it’s something I haven’t seen before, I’ll end up watching. But if it’s something I have seen, but don’t like, it just annoys me.
I’ve come to find that I have two go-to editing shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alias. Now, I haven’t done any sort of deep analysis, but I find it interesting that the shows I like to have hanging out in the background are shows about strong women (though they have their flaws), which are exactly the kind of women I like to write about! (Even Nikki in Release Me is strong, but flawed.)
And just in case you’re wondering, right now, Season 3 of Alias is playing on my iPad Mini!
How about you? What’s your favorite show to rewatch? Leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway for a copy of Release Me!
For fans of Fifty Shades of Grey and Bared to You comes an erotic, emotionally charged romance between a powerful man who’s never heard “no” and a fiery woman who says “yes” on her own terms.
He was the one man I couldn’t avoid. And the one man I couldn’t resist.
Damien Stark could have his way with any woman. He was sexy, confident, and commanding: Anything he wanted, he got. And what he wanted was me.
Our attraction was unmistakable, almost beyond control, but as much as I ached to be his, I feared the pressures of his demands. Submitting to Damien meant I had to bare the darkest truth about my past—and risk breaking us apart.
But Damien was haunted, too. And as our passion came to obsess us both, his secrets threatened to destroy him—and us—forever.
Release Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.
