Thank you so much for having me here today to talk about my newest release, MERCY. This book is an erotic romance with a touch of suspense.
I am a huge suspense fan. I love anything with undercover agents, spies, field agents, thrills and international intrigue. For me, Jason Bourne is one of the ultimate mysterious/can handle anything/lethal heroes. I always wondered what happened to a guy like Jason when the fighting ended. I mean, I can’t really see him living in the suburbs and mowing the lawn once the danger. He’d find a new life but where would he start?
That’s a bit of what I explore with the heroine, Becca Ford, in MERCY. She is a burned CIA agent, on the run and not sure who she can trust. She ends up at the exclusive supper club owned by Jarrett Holt, the mystery millionaire with a nasty past and a reputation as a Washington, DC powerbroker…the same guy she set up to be arrested eight months before. As you might guess, that leads to some relationship difficulty. Take a peek:
He reached out and covered her hand with his. “Tell me what you need.”
Maybe it was the coaxing in his voice or the feel of his skin, but the list she meant to dribble out in pieces came pouring out. “Computer access, any files you’ve collected on me, Spectrum and my team, and don’t bother saying you don’t have them. You know things about my work and the very fact Spectrum exists, or did. You shouldn’t know any of it.”
“Yet, I do.”
“I also need any background, documents, and articles about the deaths of my team members so I can look for a pattern in how they were eliminated.”
He cleared his throat but he looked like he really wanted to laugh. “Gee, is that all?”
Having gone this far, Becca didn’t see a reason to go back now. “No.”
“Did you miss my sarcasm?”
Yeah, they have trust issues to work through… 🙂
After she infiltrated his business and betrayed his trust, a disavowed CIA agent must seek sanctuary in the bedroom of a man who will either help her, kill her, or bring her to her knees…
Becca Ford is on her own. Eight months after she headed up a sting operation to take down millionaire club owner Jarrett Holt, the other agents in her special ops team have been eliminated under odd circumstances, and she needs a place to hide.
Jarrett is a man who prefers darkness to light. He deals in the only truly valuable currency—information—and his supper club caters to an exclusive clientele. It was an uncharacteristic moment of weakness when he let a woman into his life. But it’s not luck that the criminal charges disappeared . . . as did the evidence.
When Becca returns to the club seeking his help, Jarrett doesn’t want to hear her story. But he does want her body, and demands that she give it to him. He’ll keep her safe—for now—but it’ll be in his bed and on his terms, until he says they’re done.
