The Delight

Wow! Gargoyles! I really enjoyed the start of a new to me series about Guardians who rest until they are needed to battle evil. He thinks he is emotionless, but when he meets his mate, the emotions overtake him and I am totally wiped out with the amount of orgasms he provides his female!

Now Amazon sometimes recommends books to me that I can’t look away from. Like this series, it recommended a book (not this one) from it and I was intrigued. Enough intiguness (is that even a word), that I decided to get the first book, Heart of Stone. The action started hot and fast as Ella is just trying to get home from work after a gala party where she felt so out of place. Leaving by the gardens, she is waylaid by a not so nice benefactor of the museum, thus awakening the gargoyle statue she often talks to and admires, Kees. Ella has tried to hide her powers after an unfortunate accident in her youth, but now she has been recognized.

Kees has been awakened from his slumber, so a threat should be near, where is the person in charge? And why is a tiny human with magical powers awakening him from his slumber, especially one who knows nothing of their world? Now it’s a race against dark as they try to find out what has awakened him and why no magical being can be found. One tiny human who is not trained to use her magic and a big gargoyle who keeps evil at bay with his brothers…who will win?

This was a sexy, fun and terrifying romp. On one side you have Kees who oozes sexuality, but believes he has no emotions. On the other side you have Ella who thinks her magic kills and tries so hard to keep it contained. Throw in some really bad dudes who have taken down the good side organization and you have one Hell of a sexy ride.

Was part of Kees’s Guardian magic the ability to wring blood from a stone? Or, in this case, orgasms from an exhausted pussy?

There aren’t a ton of sex scenes, but the ones you get are over the top, pussy exhausting I guess. She said it, not me! He wrings every bit of pleasure from this woman before he takes his own. Gargoyle, well he is very well endowed *wink*

Kees is strong and logical. He is a protector and full of honor. Ella is what I want in my heroines. Someone who will protect her own, but also has a steel core to stand up to even the scariest of evil. These two were perfect for each other.

The baddies…evil guys…oh, I want a chance at ’em. They were those horrible guys you want to beat up and not give a crap if you go to jail over. Yeah, I want a piece of them when this is all done.

A quick read that will have you wanting to grab up the next book and stay up all night reading. I highly recommend this one ladies and gentlemen!

  • That Amazon gets me once in a while with its recommendations, too. 😉 I don’t think I would have passed up gargoyle protector-lovers either.

I usually ignore it, but the unusual scenario grabbed me.

  • I do like Amazon’s recommendations!!! And isn’t this story fabulous… I love how this author has developed the series

I usually ignore suggestions because I am so far behind on my TBR. I really want to get into this series to see where she takes it.

  • Added to my list! I love the sound of this book, gargoyles are my favorite and usually never get cast in a good light. Great review^^

I can’t wait to start the second book! Gargoyles are interesting heroes!

  • Pussy exhausting, LOL ! I’ve never read about gargoyles, I think it’s time to start. Thanks for sharing !

Well, I bet after reading that scene, mine would be exhausted too 🙂

  • Gargoyles. Now that sounds like fun. I love books with paranormal creatures in them.

I like unusual characters. Always wonder how the author will write the paranormal aspect.

  • Amazon often recommend books to me that i have already read, but sometimes they actually recommend books I want to read. So it’s fun to hear they can give good recommendations sometimes :). I haven’t read a lot of books about gargoyles so that aspect definitely sounds itnriguing. The characters sound well done. Great review!

I read her The Others series and really loved it. I didn’t like this one as much, but it very well could’ve my mood at the time. I didn’t hate this one. I think I gave it three stars, maybe. I also think I was expecting a lot more snark, like The Others series. Maybe I should try the next book sometime. I’m glad you enjoyed.

I can see where some dislike could come in. I chalked it up to a new book in a series. Hoping to get over that hump in the second book. Haven’t read her other series. Now I want too.

  • I loved your review! So I was confused… is this book about gargoyles or is the name of the character Gargoyle. I know that’s a stupid question. Hehe and I think I would really like to put the protagonist in the story because she’s strong and he seems really interesting.
    awesome review 🙂

    • he’s a gargoyle. Not a stupid question. People get the oddest nicknames sometimes.

      • Okay because I was definitely wondering hehe his name is definitely… on the unique side

He is a Guardian, who keeps evil at bay. When not needed he “sleeps” as a Gargoyle. His name is Kees, when awake. Now I need to grab the next book because evil is on an uprising and they have a long battle ahead!
