hohohorat2016

Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer blog is hosting her fourth annual Ho Ho Ho Readathon November 9th-15th.

A whole week of holiday reading and doesn’t that sound fun?  I thought so.

I’ve joined for my first year and it has me very excited.  My goal is to read FIVE Holiday/Winter themed books during that time.

Here’s my list of books:

  1. A Christmas Message by Anne Perry  Historical Suspense
  2. A Christmas Bride by Hope Ramsay Contemporary Romance
  3. Holiday Temptation anthology by Donna Hill, Farah Rochon and KM Jackson Contemporary Romance
  4. Merry Cowboy Christmas by Carolyn Brown Contemporary Romance
  5. Collision of the Heart by Laurie Alice Eakes Historical Romance

And if I finish early:

  1. Sunrise by Mike Mullins  YA Dystopian Romance

Here’s my list of necessities:

  1. Twizzlers (one word- fuel)
  2. Hot Cocoa with crushed Candy Canes
  3. Salsa & Chips
  4. Water, water, water
  5. Book Journal and functioning pen (emphasis on the functioning part)
  6. Instrumental holiday music
  7. Fleece pullover and yoga pants with tennis shoes for fresh air walk breaks.
  8. Smart Phone for the candid camera shots

Wish me luck and best wishes to the other participants.  If I figure out blog formatting and posting, I’ll try to get in some updates throughout the week. It’s operation Go Ho Ho Ho!  #HoHoHoRAT

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.
  • LOL that’s a good list of necessities! And gah you’re doing this DURING NaNo?! Holy cow! A Christmas Bride was a good one 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!

    • I know- book sadist, right? Glad A Christmas Bride was a good one. I skipped the earlier novella, but the blurb on this one caught my eye.

  • RO

I’m seriously feeling those Twizzlers right now and really enjoy the ones that are filled. Of course, we have to go with the water for health reasons, right? *heh* I can’t believe you already have your Christmas List picked out already. Kudos. Reminds me that I need to start finding some Debbie Macomber books and that this weekend starts Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel! Yay!!!! Hugs and happy Saturday. RO

    • It’s crazy. Some of these books actually released in September. Can you believe that? Yikes!

Twizzlers are great for occupying my mouth when I get the snackies. And yep, the water is total necessity. 🙂

Yes!!!! Debbie Macomber writes some good holiday stuff. Ah, adorable Hallmark Christmas movies. I have three I watch every year plus some new ones.

Happy Saturday and a good Sunday to you, Ro!

  • I hope you have fun with this readathon! I never joined myself, but it always sounds fun. It sounds like a nice list of books you plan to read. I am curious about that historical suspense with a Christmas theme! I like your list of necessities, fuel is a must and water is a good one too!

    • Me, too. I’ve see it a few times, but never joined so decided this was the year since I have a nice stack of holiday books needing my attention.
Oh, that Anne Perry historical looks good to me, too.
Ha, yes, must have my necessities.

  • Nice necessities! I’m joining for the first time this year as well, just haven’t posted my goals yet. Hope you have a great week!

    • Why thank you, Aleen! 🙂 Yes, I need those to get through a book readathon. Glad to see I’m not the only rookie.

  • Greg Hill

This reminds me I signed up for this readathon and haven’t done my intro/ goals post yet. Thanks! I’ve done it before and it’s a lot of fun. I see Anne Perry on your list- I was readig her Christmas novellas like clockwork for a few years but I drifted away. I may have to check out this year’s.

Lol about Twizzlers. I’ve never had them but I have a friend who loves them and just buys them by the bag- has for years. 🙂

    • Ha! Glad I could remind you, Greg. And this is great that you’re doing the RAT, too. Good luck!

Yes, I do love Anne Perry books and these particular characters are some long time favorites from the Thomas Pitt series so I’m happy they get their Christmas story told this year.

      Those Twizzlers, so addicting. 🙂

  • I’ve never participated in this readathon, but I think I’m going to, too! I need to figure out what books I want to read, though. I’ve actually already read some holiday reads this year. I need to find new ones.

    • Yay, Quinn!

There are so many good ones with the holiday or winter theme. Look forward to what you pick.

  • Great list of all different sorts of holiday reads. I look forward to seeing what you enjoy the most. Happy reading.

    • Thanks a bunch, BB! I’m off and running with the Christmas anthology. 🙂 So far it’s good. 🙂

  • Loving your book selection..happy reading Sophia!

    • Thanks, lady! Appreciate you putting the event together. Good luck with your list, too. 🙂

  • Darlene’s Book Nook

Hope you are enjoying all your holiday reads, Sophia! Hot cocoa with crushed candy canes sounds yummy! I like a shot of Frangelico in mine 🙂

    • I am definitely enjoying my holiday choices, Darlene. Oh yeah, that does look like a flavorful add in. 🙂
