Howdy, Delighted Readers!

I have invited a guest to join us today.  Her books make her no stranger on our site.  Please welcome, author of the fantastic Search and Rescue Series, Katie Ruggle.

Thanks for joining us, Katie.

Just a few quick-ish questions about you and your latest, In Safe Hands: Book 4 in the Search and Rescue Series.

1) What’s a favorite autumn activity?

I love fall! Both in the Colorado mountains and in Minnesota (where I now live), autumn is cool enough to kill most of the bugs, but not so cold that I freeze off my face. All outdoor activities are better in the fall, but I think my favorite is horseback riding.

2) Do any S&R characters enjoy Halloween?  Do they dress up?  If so, what as?

I can see Daisy from In Safe Hands enjoying it, since her agoraphobia has made her miss so many Halloween celebrations. She’d definitely dress up, but not as anything scary—she’s had too many real-life scary experiences!

3) Any behind the scenes fun you can share about In Safe Hands or the S&R series?

My first draft of In Safe Hands was really long (I mean, really, really long), and included a couple of Chris’s deputy friends, Jake and Rusty. Although I loved these two jokesters, their scenes ended up getting cut, so I had to say goodbye. As soon as I have a spare minute, though, I’m going to put together some “deleted scenes” from the series, so Jake and Rusty will have their moment to shine.

4) What is one item that each of your S&R series characters might advise our readers to place in an emergency preparedness kit?

Lou: Tire patch kit.

Callum: Label maker.

Rory: Pocket chainsaw.

Ian: Duct tape.

Ellie: A George.

George: First aid kit, useful for blisters and bullet wounds.

Daisy: Fire extinguisher.

Chris: A phone or radio to call for help.

Ha!  Yes, fun and handy stuff there.  Thanks, Katie!

In Safe Hands by Katie Ruggle

He was her hero,

But one wrong move ended their future before it could begin.

Now he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe,

Even if that means turning against one of his own.

As a member of the Field County Sheriff’s Department, Chris Jennings is used to having it rough. The Colorado Rockies aren’t for the weak-of-spirit, but he’s devoted his life to upholding the law—and to protecting the one woman he knows he can never have. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Daisy Little has lived in agoraphobic terror for over eight years. Trapped within a prison of her own making, she watches time pass through her bedroom window. Daisy knows she’ll never be a part of the world…until the day she becomes the sole witness of a terrible crime that may finally tear the Search & Rescue brotherhood apart for good.

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.
