Well, there you have it.  A host of challenges that will work mostly on my older books, but still allow for me to experience what’s new and expand my horizons beyond my usual reading.  I have created GoodReads shelves for each of these challenges where Delighted Readers can see the specific books read toward the challenges.  I will update my challenge numbers each month as part of The Monthly Report.

Do you do Reading Challenges?  If so, which ones have you signed up for?  Have a personal challenge you are doing just for you?  Do Tell!

The following two tabs change content below.
I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.
  • LOL, and I’ve added the Library Love challenge from Angel’s Guilty Pleasures at the last minute putting me on record for finishing 12 library books this year. 😉

  • Oh yay!! You have some great picks. I’m going to have to join some more, I’m only in the audiobook one lol Happy New Year!!!

    • Haha, yes its hard to resist them (at least for me). The audiobook is a good one. I enjoy seeing my listening numbers go up each year.

      Happy New Year, Lily!

  • These all look so fun here!!! I am so glad that you are participating in the Oldie But A Goodie 🙂 I am actually taking a break from most reading challenges this year, except for the ones I am hosting.

    Happy New Year!!

    • Oh yes, I’m pretty charged up to leap into these. I can see needing a break from the expectation that a challenge places on you.
Haha, yes, good idea to do the ones you’re hosting. 😉

      Happy New Year, Renee!

  • I really don’t participate in challenges but I’m sure others have fun with them.

    • Always good to have a few cheerleaders, Mary. Thanks. 🙂

  • Wow! That is a lot of challenges to keep track of, Sophia Rose. I am sure that you will do well with all of them.

    • LOL, I have GoodReads shelves and a journal, but I don’t do much linking back to the challenge pages since there are so many. 🙂

  • shootingstarsmag

So many challenges!! That’s awesome though – it does let you read a variety of books. I really want to focus on backlist books this year since I own so many (bought/gifted) that I just haven’t gotten around to yet.

    • Oh yes, the backlist is a good focus. I’ve picked several here that are working on that monster TBR pile, too. I really need to stop even when its free. LOL

  • Oh they all sound good. Hope you have a great time with all of them 🙂

    • For sure! I’m eager to get cracking on these. 🙂

  • Good Luck Sophia! and Happy New Year <3

    • Hey lady! Thanks and you do the same. 🙂

  • Good luck with your challenges, Sophia! I don’t even try anymore because I stop keeping track after a couple months. lol

    • Yeah, I understand. It can be a pain to keep up the tracking. I’ve got a good and simple system in place, but there are still times I drag my feet to keep on it.

  • You are such a go-getter. I didn’t even meet the two challenges I signed up for this year. Blogger fail for me!

    Lots of luck, Sophia! 🙂

    • No, you did not fail. You just had a crazy life for a while with all the moving and changing around. 🙂

      Thanks, Angie!

  • Karen

I’m challenge challenged lol so I don’t join any other than the general Goodreads one but I am going to try Anna’s Blog All About It. Sounds fun and different.

Good luck with all of yours!

    For What It’s Worth

    • Those are good ones. And hey, that Goodreads one freaks me out when I drop behind on it. LOL

Oh cool! I’ll look forward to catching your posts for Anna’s Challenge. I’m already working on my first one. 🙂

  • What a great list of challenges! I also joined Coyer and the 2018 New release Challenge, that are the only two i am signing-up for I think. That romance challenge sounds like a nice one too,

    • COYER and New Release are a good balance of older books and new ones so they fit what you wanted to do with your reading this year. Hopefully it will go well for both of us. 🙂

Oh yes, the Romance Roundabout is a good one for getting me to read sub-genres that I don’t naturally reach for but still enjoy.

  • Quite a selection! I decided to continue to work on personal challenges previously set which include books on my tbr pile. And, wanted to keep up with a few book club picks from both face-to-face and online clubs.

    • That’s a good idea to finish up what you already have going on. More than a handful of these are going to help me with that, too- I hope. LOL

You do some lovely mini challenges through the year that I enjoying seeing what you are reading or watching for them. Good luck with yours, Velvet!
