Playing it safe has never felt so dangerous…

Justice Wallington knows how to harness his strength and intimidating size—skills he put to good use first in the MMA cage and now as a bodyguard at the Body Armor agency. But no opponent has ever left him feeling as off balance as his new client, heiress Fallon Wade. Far from a spoiled princess, she's sweet and intriguingly innocent. It's a risk-free assignment, until he's required to fake a relationship with her in order to blend in.

Sheltered from the world after a family tragedy, Fallon longs to experience life—going to bars, dancing, talking to strangers. Not easy with a huge, lethal-looking bodyguard shadowing her every move. Justice seems like her polar opposite, but pretending to be a couple stirs undeniable heat. And when danger strikes again, it's not just her safety in jeopardy, but a passion that's real, raw and absolutely against the rules…

The Delight

I am so delighted to return to Body Armor and the alpha men who protect. Let’s not forget though the company is run by a woman! Justice has left MMA fighting and has found his calling protecting the rich and famous, but one small woman with a big heart is about to bring him down.

Review

When the story started, I will admit I was completely confused. We meet Fallon Wade when she has decided to come out of her cocoon of shelter she has built around herself. Hiring a bodyguard seems logical to help her start to experience life again. It takes time before you find out why she has sheltered herself and still living with her parents or in fact needs a bodyguard.

Justice is an awesome guy who looks extremely scary. He has retired from MMA fighting knowing he is good, but not the best fighter. Comfortable with that, he moves on to the next journey of his life at Body Armor. Taking his job very seriously, he keeps Fallon protected while also allowing her to spread her wings.

Muscles bulged everywhere. Like…seriously. Everywhere. Shoulders, biceps, chest, neck; he stood in a casual pose, if a brick wall could ever be casual.

So when Justice left MMA fighting, he left on a high note with a knock out. The guy he knocked out wants a rematch. Pushy doesn’t throughly explain how he goes about trying to get Justice to give him a rematch. Throw in that Fallon has an ex-boyfriend who isn’t taking no as an answer. While he is pushy as well, he does seem to have a good heart with literacy for kids. Both of these worlds co-mingle into trouble for both the hero and heroine.

I will admit I almost put the book down early. Fallon is a strong young lady, but quite innocent. She’s coming out of her shell, needs guidance, and isn’t really ready for the force that is Justice. Sweet, innocent heroines are nice once and a while, but at the time of this story, I was getting kind of fed up with reading about them.

Dark clouds rolled over one another and humidity hung thick in the air. He liked storms. They made him horny.

The suspense was awkward at best. Someone is causing problems, but so far nothing too bad. Just enough to bring up Justice’s defenses. I suspected who it might be, but really didn’t have a clue. That’s what also got me because you couldn’t get into the mind of the person doing this and why. It was all shaky getting to the bottom of things.

Justice is sweetly gentle, but also forceful as he comes to love Fallon. His honor is all in the right place not wanting to take advantage, but not ignoring the feelings that are overcoming him. I loved how he introduced Fallon to his family and friends. Again we get to see all the MMA fighters and some of the women. They wrapped Fallon right into the family. This is what I love about these characters.

When the story gets going, it gets good between the couple. I just didn’t care for the suspense element and didn’t feel it played out very well. Overall, I enjoyed this addition to the Body Armor series.

  • LOL! A casual brick wall. Great quote pick.

I like the bodyguard romance part.

I love Lori Foster. I just discovered her a few years ago, but she writes stories based in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, which is the area I live in.

  • I really liked this one. More than Under Pressure. I didn’t mind how innocent Fallon was, though. I loved Justice! The suspense wasn’t that great, but that was okay with me.

Both stories have left em with odd feelings. The suspense is where I am having issues. It just doesn’t feel authentic. I normally don’t mind innocence, but I have had a lot of it lately.

  • I wouldn’t have thought this was a romantic suspense novel, given how happy the hero looks, on the cover! I do like romantic suspense a lot. 😀 I’ve not read anything by Lori Foster though. Justice sounds like a hero for me – gentle, honorable, and little bit scary and aggressive. I like the innocence factor. I might check out this one!

    Great review, Shari. =)

I love her MMA series that just ended. This is a spin off from that one. I think it was called Ultimate.

  • Love Lori Foster Alpha Male Heroes. So behind in her novels.

Get in gear 🙂 These men are only available until they find their first love.

  • Sigh. Yes yes yes, I need to read more Foster.

    • Shari Delighted Read

She is my go to author for anything MMA.

  • I really enjoyed this one, and yes I was blown away by the why for the bodyguard.

    • Shari Delighted Read

Me too. I really didn’t get why she needed one. Mostly she needed someone to take her out and show her how to live.
