A town where two or more men to one woman is normal? What doesn’t seem normal to us, is very normal in this world Vanessa Vale created. The men are dominant, but also very protective. This is a tale of an overworked woman in search of a partnership in a law firm and two men looking for their forever love. Kinky, with a side of hot cowboy, this was hot, but also a little annoying.
We meet in a prologue the main characters of the story. Catherine has just inherited her uncle’s house and rights to water in Montana. Her high power attorney job is a dead end position even if she won’t admit it. Getting on a flight, she is already bombarded with her boss giving the golden boy her cases, a co-worker giving her advice to ride a cowboy and a hot cowboy next to her seemingly ignoring her. Her stress level is through the roof and to top it all off, her ex-husband is harassing her about her inheritance being half his. This gives you an understanding of what the heroes are going to have to deal with right off the bat.
Jack Kane is heading home and feels a connection to the woman next to him. When he finds out she is going back to his hometown he knows he is going to get his cousin, Sam, on board and claim their woman. Only Sam gets to her first and even puts his head between her legs before they all know who each other are.
Jack and Sam know they are going to share a wife. One bad experience when they were 18 seems to cloud up Sam until he meets Catherine…who now is know as Katie. See Katie once visited her uncle in the summers and she knew Sam through a friend. At the age of 12, the family stopped visiting and there is a reason why. I found the reason silly as she was only 12. But I digress.
The guys decided to take over. During the day she has her time to set up the sale of the house and property, but they have no plans on letting her leave. The evenings are theirs and the phone gets taken away and she gets “taken.” They have to try to get her out of her own mind as all she wants to do is work. So they start spanking her. She likes it. It becomes something they continue to do. In reality though, they do seem to dominate her and tell her what to do a lot and generally become too much alpha for me to comfortably live with.
The story is a little push from reality, but maybe not. I found myself wanting them to understand her dreams while also helping her understand her dreams in New York were never going to happen. Instead they run roughshod over her and just turned me off.
Now I read an excerpt from the next book in the series that intrigued me. I am not sure if it will be bunch of the same or different. So I guess you will have to wait to see if I continue reading this series.
