Wowsa! Is that even a word? I have wanted to read the Sullivan series for some time now and Amazon last week made it easier for me with their Gold Box Deal. I hope you grabbed up these books and can read them with me. The Sullivans Series is about a family of eight brothers and sisters, all falling in love one at a time. With five books out, there seem to be just three left, but I am just starting so there is a world of books left for me!
The Look of Love is the story of Chase Sullivan, a successful and worldly photographer who is ready to settle down, but really hasn’t given it much thought until he picks up Chloe Peterson during a rain storm. Chloe’s car has run off the side of the road. A perfect ending to a bad day 🙁 Chloe is very skittish and Chase knows right away he will have to go slow with her to just get her to the guest house to dry out.
Chase instantly falls for Chloe but knows she has some secrets that make her not ready for a relationship. He never pushes, giving her the room to get to know him without pressure. He does make suggestions, but if she wasn’t open to them, he never pushed.
There was one fun scene on the first night that sets the tone for how sexy these two are! I won’t tell, you just have to read. Both characters come up with fun nicknames for each other as Chloe helps Chase with the photo shoot he is working on. They are staying at Chase’s brother’s winery in the guest house. Chase slowly learns more and more about Chloe, like her love of quilting and how her ex-husband hurt her and attacked her.
While Chloe isn’t ready for a new relationship, she slowly grows to see Chase in a different light than her past relationship and knows he would never hurt her, but help her to grow and shine. Love grows slowly in this fast paced book. How can that happen? I don’t know. The book takes place in a very short time span, but the love never felt rushed to me.
The sexy scenes were off the hook hot. Chase knows how to please a woman and he goes about making sure Chloe knows he will always put her first above everything.
What I dearly loved was that while Chase was instantly in love, he know Chloe was not there. He never pushed in an obvious way. He asked questions and knew when to back down. He waited patiently, showing Chloe through actions she could trust him. Where can we get more of these men? Oh yeah, there are six Sullivan brothers! And two sisters!
The Look of Love was a great start to The Sullivans series and I can’t wait to start the next book!
