Remy Boudreaux is back in his hometown, New Orleans. He's there with three of his fellow Dallas SWAT officers for a week of training with the NOLA PD. On the eve of a tropical storm, Remy and his buddies prowl the French Quarter. One tantalizing scent captures Remy's senses, forcing him to follow until he is face to face with Triana Bellamy—his beautiful high school crush.

After reconnecting, Remy and Triana are close—very. Remy struggles to keep things casual. Ever since his partner—and first love—was killed on the job, he's kept women at a distance.

But when a mysterious wolf pendant ropes them both into danger, Remy's protective instincts kick in. He may have to reveal his true self...and hope Triana accepts him.

The Delight

Laissez les bon temps roulez for Remy and a few others of the SWAT team when training brings them to the Big Easy.  A high school crush, a voodoo shop, a crime boss, and Remy must bring out the wolf to get the job done.

Wolf Hunt is the sixth installment of the action-packed SWAT series featuring a secret Alpha werewolf pack dedicated to each other and their work as DPD SWAT.  If I had one hang up about the last few books, as much as I liked them, they were starting to feel a little same ol’ thing.  Well that certainly got addressed with a fresh setting and some filling in and expansion of the werewolf lore in this one.

Remy, unlike the others, has no desire to find his The One after loving and losing, but now that is being confused with a high school crush returned to his life and a second chance for both of them since Triana crushed on him, too.  I enjoyed the dynamics of their romance even as I looked for a cool glass of refreshment after reading their smoldering encounters.

The action side of the story was a two-pronged current drug investigation and an older cold case.  It was great getting some good SWAT werewolf action.

In summary, I loved how this latest story, Wolf Hunt, breathed new life into the series and look forward to what is to come as the confrontation with the werewolf hunters edges ever closer for the SWAT wolves.  If you love a combo of paranormal and romantic suspense, this is a great series to pick up.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

    1. Oh super, Karen! Glad to introduce you to a new series to try. 🙂 Book four, To Love a Wolf was my favorite. And she has another shifter romantic suspense series called the X-Ops.

  1. oh that is just awesome!! I love that this book has more of a fresh feel to it. I haven’t felt the same ole’ feeling as strongly as you, but have felt it, but I love this author so much that it wasn’t a huge deal for me but now I am super excited to read this one which will be this week. Great review and hope you both are doing well.

    1. I thought so. I didn’t hate the same ol’, but I was getting impatient to move forward with things especially since I knew the hunters were out there. This was great. I know you’ll love it, Renee!

    1. Definitely worth your excitement, I think. 🙂 Interesting how its switching over mid stream. I’m not familiar with Abby Craden, but I trust you on knowing the good ones, Melanie. 🙂
