Sophia’s 2013 Wrap-Up

Posted January 15, 2014 by Shari in Random / 4 Comments

So!  I was visiting several blogs on New Year’s Eve and enjoying many ‘Best of’ posts and suddenly got the urge to share something similar.  Trouble is that I couldn’t think how to be succinct enough for a blog post.  You’ve read my reviews so you know that ‘short’, ‘brief’, and ‘succinct’ aren’t in my genetic make up when it comes to writing.  I’ve also read tons of books this year (480 to be exact) so it’s hard to narrow it down though I tried hard.  So here’s what I’ve got:

Awesome Series I’ve started (finally) this year:

  1. Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter (UF)
  2. Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors (PNR)
  3. Katie McGarry’s Pushing the Limits (YA CR)
  4. Delilah S. Dawson’s Blud (SP-PNR)
  5. Bec McMaster’s London Steampunk (SP-PNR)

Couldn’t Get My Money Out Fast Enough Favorites this year:

  1. Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan (H-PNR-SP)
  2. Touch & Geaux by Abigail Roux (M/M RS)
  3.  Frostburned by Patricia Briggs (UF)
  4.  Opal by Jennifer Armentrout (YA- SYFI R)
  5.  Marriage of Mercy by Carla Kelly (HR)

Made Me Cry (Some authors are literary sadists)

  1. Long the Mile by Ally Blue (M/M CR)
  2. Sins of the Lost by Linda Poivetin (UF)
  3. The Good Boy by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock (M/M BDSM CR)
  4. Made of Stars by Kelley York (YA M/M RS)
  5. Bleeding Hearts by Ash Krafton (UF)

Made Me Squirm in a Good Way (BDSM, DD, and Menage newbie this year)

  1. Caught Up in You by Roni Loren (BDSM CR)
  2. Hour of the Lion by Cherise Sinclair (PNR- BDSM- M/F/M)
  3. Dirty Laundry by Heidi Cullinan (BDSM  CR M/M)
  4. Dangerous Submission by Lori Toland (BDSM RS M/M)
  5. The Sheik Retold by Victoria Vane (HR)

Just Incredible For Various Reasons

  1. Christmas Kitsch by Amy Lane (NA CR M/M) for the beautiful character
  2. Once a Seal by Anne Elizabeth (CR) for authentic military backdrop & plot
  3. The Moon Dwellers by David Estes (YA DyR) for creative dystopian world
  4. Vexing Voss by Gail Koger (SYFI ROM) for making me laugh so hard
  5. The Nourisher by Mark Alders (SYFI R  M/M) alien hero spider who was adorable

Any of these your favs or your favorite to loathe?

Love to hear about your favs, new plunges or memorable reads.  Do share or leave a link for me to check out what you’ve got.

Shari is the Delighted Reader. Married to her Prince Charming and mother to two Princesses and one Prince. When she is not slaving away as Cinderella she loves to get lost in the pages of a good book. Never without a reading device and a few good paperback books, because she never knows when she might get 5 minutes to read!

  • Wow and not a single one I’ve read!! I’ve read a few of the authors but not a single book. Always fun seeing what people pick 🙂

    • I’m nosy that way too. I loved reading everyone’s lists and just felt compelled to do my own.

  • PTL and London Steampunk for sure! I am planning to do a Blud marathon soon. Just scoping my calendar for a free week. #perilsofbookblogging

    • A Blud marathon sounds abso-fab especially now that the final book is coming out in a few weeks. I just wrapped up a marathon with Cecy Robson’s books though I still need to read the novellas that go between the novels.
