The Great Pick Up Line featuring
No Angel by Pippa Jay

Brightness caught his eye. A woman, tall, artificially blonde but with a mouth and figure as lush as one of his succubi sisters. Her gaze met his for an instant, then fluttered away shyly. Lucien sidled to a stop alongside and turned to look at her fully. She hesitated, also halting. A blush colored her fair cheeks.

“I’m sorry, do I know you?” A hint of uncertainty in her voice. She hadn’t quite fallen under his thrall. Yet.

“In another life, perhaps. My name is Lucien.” He took her hand and kissed it, a custom so ancient it was now only seen in old movie archives. But every visible inch of her skin flushed a shade of rose in response, and she smiled. Her blue eyes glazed over as his full charm overpowered any resistance she might have put up. She was all his in that moment.

“Annalise,” she breathed.

“Beautiful Annalise,” he purred, and felt her shiver. “Take me home with you.”
Without another word, she did.

How far would you fall for love?

Centuries ago, guardian angel Lucien committed a terrible sin. He gave into his own desires and revealed himself to the mortal woman he’d been charged to protect. By kissing her, he condemned himself. Torn of his wings and his angelic powers, thrown down into the City Below, Lucien now serves Satan as an incubus who claims souls for his master from the City Above, and who feeds on the energy stolen from his mortal lovers. Dark, sexy and charming, he’s been top of his league for decades uncounted.

Until His Infernal Highness decides to send Lucien looking for a lost angel. Lucien has no idea what he did to deserve such a punishment, and the touch of an angel could destroy him. Yet the challenge and the potential kudos of seducing one of his former heavenly kin leads him on.

But when he finds the angel, he learns he still has more to lose than his already forsaken soul.

About Pippa Jay

After spending twelve years working as an Analytical Chemist in a Metals and Minerals laboratory, Pippa Jay is now a stay-at-home mum who writes scifi and the supernatural. Somewhere along the way a touch of romance crept into her work and refused to leave. In between torturing her plethora of characters, she spends the odd free moment playing guitar very badly, punishing herself with freestyle street dance, and studying the Dark Side of the Force. Although happily settled in the historical town of Colchester in the UK with her husband of 21 years and three little monsters, she continues to roam the rest of the Universe in her head.

Pippa Jay is a dedicated member of the Science Fiction Romance Brigade and Broad Universe, blogging at Spacefreighters Lounge, Adventures in Scifi, and Romancing the Genres. Her works include YA and adult stories crossing a multitude of subgenres from scifi to the paranormal, often with romance, and she’s one of eight authors included in a science fiction romance anthology—Tales from the SFR Brigade. She’s also a double SFR Galaxy Award winner, been a finalist in the Heart of Denver RWA Aspen Gold Contest (3rd place), the EPIC eBook awards, and the GCC RWA Silken Sands Star Awards (2nd place).

  • A kiss on the hand and she takes him home ? That is a great pick-up line, it definitely works lol !

    • A kiss and some succubi charisma. Can’t say I’d be that resistant if he was a cutie. 😉

      • I don’t think I would resist either ^^

He has a rather devilish advantage over mortals. 😛

Like Iza mentioned, he definitely convinces her quickly. This book sounds interesting, although normally I am not a big fan of nagel or fallen angels books, not sure why, but angels aren’t my favourite characters. There are however always exceptions, like Keri Lake her Sons of Wrath series which also features demons, succubi and angels. So who knows I mitgh have to check this oen out!

    • I’ve read a few of her Sci-Fi stories which I thought really good. I’m hit or miss on angels/demons too, but I do like Pippa’s stories. So if you like sci-fi maybe start with those to see if you like her, Lola.

This was my first angel story, and I’ll admit I’ve not read many myself. I just saw a submission call I fancied challenging myself to. ^_^

This sounds like an interesting book. That pick up line worked very well.

    • Oh yeah! Lightning quick, Brittany. 😉

  • Wow, that price seems kinda high for showing himself and kissing a mortal. he gets sent to satan? Dang, whatever happened to a second chance. lol

    • No kidding, Mary! I screw up all the time so I’d probably lose my wings in a flash though maybe getting the girl is his second chance. 😉

Lol, imagine what he might have got for more than a kiss. 😛
