The Great Pick Up Line featuring
Broken Honor by Tonya Burrows

“During my last mission in Afghanistan, things got really fucked up and for a while, it didn’t look like I was going to make it out alive. And even though the shit was hitting the fan and one of my teammates was bleeding out in front of me, the only thing I could think of was how much I wanted to see you again. How much I wanted more than only one night.” –Travis Quinn

Travis Quinn is not a coward—except when it comes to sweet, softhearted Mara Escareno. After spending one beautiful, intense, and completely terrifying night of passion with her during a routine bodyguard assignment, he goes into full retreat mode. He’s still reeling from the car accident that destroyed his SEAL career and left him suffering from blackouts that are threatening to end his job with HORNET, and he knows he’s not the right kind of guy for a good girl like Mara.

Having lived her entire life sheltered by her overbearing stepfather, all Mara wanted from Quinn that night was a forbidden taste of freedom. What she got was a positive pregnancy test and her family’s scorn. Kicked out of her home with nowhere else to go, she tracks Quinn down to his hometown of Baltimore—and walks directly into the hands of his enemies.

As Mara is swept up into the human trafficking trade of Eastern Europe, Quinn turns to HORNET for help. In his last mission as the team’s XO, he will risk everything to find her and their baby—his life, his honor, and his heart.

She suffers from a bad case of wanderlust and usually ends up moving someplace new every few years. Luckily, her two dogs and ginormous cat are excellent travel buddies.

When she's not writing about hunky military heroes, Tonya can be found at a bookstore or the dog park. She also enjoys painting, watching movies, and her daily barre workouts. A geek at heart, she pledges her TV fandom to Supernatural and Dr. Who.

  • So romantic 🙂 And such a hot cover !

    • No kidding! There are some book covers that I would totally frame and put on my wall.

      • *whispers * I have it framed in my office. Right next to SEAL of Honor and Honor Reclaimed!

        • That would totally be a distracting and captivating wall to stare at.

    • Quinn’s not usually a romantic guy, but Mara brings it out in him. Thanks for commenting!

  • Aw. How could you resist that? And yay Tonya! Love her books 😀

  • Lola R

Aww what a sweet confession, sunds like these two already have some background. In general I stay away from military romances, but I haven’t read a lot of them so I can’t really form an opinion.

    • LOL! Well I’ve read a lot so I can form too many opinions probably. That was a sweet quote.

    • Lola ~ HORNET is a privately-funded operation in which the main focus is Hostage Recovery and Negotiation. The guys are all former special forces, FBI, and CIA so they have the training to do what is needed to get the job done. It’s more of a Romantic Suspense/Action than full-on Military/War type series.
Quinn and Mara do have some background, but it’s really more hinted at in a previous book. This book CAN stand alone strongly, but it’s always a better experience when you’ve read the series from the start. 😉

Thanks for explaining! I didn’t realize this was part of a series.

  • Military romance. Always packs a hard punch!

    • Most definitely! I have a true weakness for these especially if the heroine is connected to the military too.

    • That’s why I enjoy writing it. So many emotions to play with.

  • The lady will take two tickets to the gun show! Wow. I love this cover.

    • It has pop for sure!

      • Ha, I read this initially as “poop”! Eyes tired!!! I guess it’s time to put down the reading and make dinner. It’s a good idea to keep my man happy anyway. 🙂

        • drat that auto-correct. Haha! My eyesight goes wonky sometimes too.

    • It has pop for sure!

    • I’ve been really, really lucky in the cover department!

  • Oh goodness… This author seems like a priority… Loved that quote. I do love those tender and sweet ones. Swoon worthy.

    • Thank you! Quinn tries not to be sweet, but it sneaks out every once in a while!
