Sophia Rose’s Update

Happy Fall!

Garden’s wrapping up, temps are falling, apple orchards and pumpkin patches are doing a brisk business around here so I’m thinking its Autumn.  I think we’ll be waiting until October some time for our leaf colors to turn. I’ve already broken out the crockpot for soups, stews, and chili-making.  The rescue cat dynamic duo are well settled and will cuddle now and then.

Big home project is to repair the front steps to the house.  It’s an old place built in the 20’s and the original poured concrete steps have sunk or eroded so that they are become unsafe.  We’ve done the prep and now just need to break up the concrete, build up the dirt and rock foundation beneath, put in the frames to pour the new concrete, and then let it set.  I do thank my stars that my guy is handy with this sort of thing, but he does need an assistant at times and that is me who is not always as helpful as I’d like to be.

On the reading front, I signed up for Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer’s Fraterfest Readathon that runs Oct 10-15th.  I’ve got a little stack of ‘spooky’, paranormal, and mystery reads set aside including the TBR Pile Vote winner for this.  There is still time if you’re interested in signing up for the fun: https://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/2019/09/fraterfest-2019-readathon-sign-up.html

Those stairs sound like a lot of work! I am glad your guy can do that! The only challenge I’m doing is the Hot Listens/Caffeinated audios. I’m finished with that one. 30 books in one month! I’m impressed!

I’ve already lugged concrete bags and I’ll need to do the mixing, but I get a break while he’s making the forms and breaking up the old stuff. LOL

That’s great that you fimished your challenge. I hit the minimum of my goal on that one and am trying for a higher number by the end of the year. 🙂

It looks like you both had a good reading month. Those stairs sound like a whole lot of work. Nice that you and your guy will be able to take care of it yourself. I hope you have a great October!

Yeah, it will be a real bear to do. Now, if only the rain will stop long enough for us to get in the work. LOL

This was definitely the year for the audio with me, too.
