To Be or Not to Be…Read TBR Pile Vote April

Sophia's To Read or Not

Each month, I will post up a pair (or more) of books.  I would like you to vote on a choice.  Yes!  You will have the job of telling me what to read from my pile each month.  I welcome your vote no matter what reason you choose (frivolous, serious or otherwise) that particular book and do share your reason in the comments just because I’m nosy.  I will update everyone at the end of the month in my reading update and will of course share my thoughts on the book itself in my review.

I don’t really have a theme this month.  It’s spring so I’m feeling the fever, I guess.  LOL  So I picked a couple of books that I haven’t exactly been eager to read, but they are on my shelves.  Something about them keeps a spark of interest going for them (past enjoyment of the author’s books or something in the blurb itself).  And with that bit of mysteriousness, here’s what I have for your voting pleasure:

Candidate #1

Falling in Deeper by Shayla Black
#11 Wicked Lovers
Erotic Romance

Goodreads

Candidate #2

Last Mile by Katie Ashley
#3 Viscous Cycle
Contemporary Romance

Goodreads

The following two tabs change content below.
I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.
  • I voted for Last Mile. I haven’t read either of these authors so I picked by which cover I liked more.

    • That works for me. 🙂 It’s tough when they are both unknowns for you. I’ve been reading both so at least I had that background.

  • I chose Falling in Deeper only because I have read the first book in the other series and didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t want to steer you that way. Though if you’re on the third book and have read the previous, you’re already enjoying it. Happy reading! 🙂

    • I’ve actually read from both series. And I wasn’t fond of the first book in that series either. I thought I’d give a new pair of main characters a go and see if it changes thing. Thanks, Angie!

  • Debbie Haupt

Not a fan of e-rom so you know how I voted, but i see there are many more freaks than vanilla lovers here LOL 😉

    • Haha! No sweat, Debbie. We all like what we like and you should never be made to feel badly if you don’t like something. I’m rather a picky e-rom reader so they have to impress me with a solid story and not just a hot sex scene. Thanks, lady!

  • I chose Falling in the Deep….mostly for the cover, I can’t lie. LOL! I’m also not the hugest fan of MC romances so that’s why I didn’t pick the second one. Whichever you end up reading, I hope you really enjoy it!

    • Hey, those are great reasons. Yes, that is definitely a sexy cover. 🙂 Thanks, I’ll do my best. Truthfully, these are older unsolicited review books and I had trouble with both authors at one point so my expectations are moderate this go around. 🙂

  • Falling in Deeper, simply for the cover
:O also I read Black before and loved her writing

  • I picked Last Mile…just because I like that cover more 🙂 I hope you enjoy whichever book you do read.

    • Cover voting is totally legit, Carole. Thanks.

  • I voted for Last Mile, only because the other one says erotica. Not a big fan mostly 🙂

    • Perfectly perfect, Lorna. Taste matters and if its not your thing, then the other way is fine. 🙂

  • Well, I honestly can’t get excited for either one, but I chose Last Mile.

    • Yeah, that was my reaction when I saw them still waiting over a year later on the old review stack. I didn’t request them, but still… they are there so I’ll give them a shot. 🙂

  • Sorry to make it tough for you, Geybie. 🙂

  • I will happily post up my thoughts on the one I get to read. Thanks so much for voting. 🙂

  • Oh that’s hard since I’m rather opinionated on both. lol

    • Yeah, I’m getting down to it with some of the unsoliciteds left on my shelf. I thought I’d at least give em a try. Moderate expectations of course. LOL

  • Hmm maybe Katie Ashley

    • Touch pick, right, Melliane? 🙂

      • I like the cover lol

        • I like that reason especially if the authors or the series aren’t familiar to you.

  • I’m not familiar with either book. I picked Katie Ashley because I’ve heard more about her. I love that cover too. 🙂 I hope you love whichever book you pick.

Melanie @ Hot Listens & Rabid Reads

    • I’ve read books by both authors and had some good and some not so good so it can go either way here. LOL.
Cover love is a totally legit reason to try a book. Thanks, Melanie!

  • Greg Hill

Ooh the voting is close! I voted the first one because tattoos lol. I have no idea which one is better. 🙂

    Enjoy either way!

    • Hey, that totally works for me, Greg. I’ve picked books for the most whimsical reasons before. Thanks for the vote. 🙂

  • oh that is a hard decision, but I think Katie Ashly’s cover is what made me choose hehe what can I say…I am a sucker for a good cover. 🙂

    • Cover adoration counts. 🙂 Thanks, Renee!

  • I’m intrigued by Last Mile!

    • Thanks for voting, Cyn. Looks like we might get a chance to see about that intrigue b/c it’s winning. 🙂
