To Be or Not to Be…Read TBR Pile Vote February

Sophia's To Read or Not

Each month, I will post up a pair (or more) of books.  I would like you to vote on a choice.  Yes!  You will have the job of telling me what to read from my pile each month.  I welcome your vote no matter what reason you choose (frivolous, serious or otherwise) that particular book and do share your reason in the comments just because I’m nosy.  I will update everyone at the end of the month in my reading update and will of course share my thoughts on the book itself in my review.

This month we have a pair of new to me authors and books from the middle of series.  I have not read the books that come before either of these so I will be living dangerously and counting on my super-reader ability to dive in and intuitively understand everything mid-story arc (LOL, no, I really don’t have a secret ability like that).  I always planned to go back and read the prior books, but didn’t and now I am in a fury to get these read and off my shelf.  On the very possible chance that I really am too lost to finish the story, I’ll switch out for another from my TBR pile in my series challenge World of the Lupi series by Eileen Wilks (keeping with that Urban Fantasy theme).

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

  • Oh, these both sound good! Looking forward to seeing which one gets more votes. 🙂

    • I always enjoy the anticipation of seeing which book will win. 🙂

  • Both sound good but I voted for Flamebound.

    • Yes, they do both sound good. And this is why we vote- I don’t have to strain my brain trying to pick. Appreciate you helping out. 😉

  • I am curious about that first one

  • Oh risky starting in the middle of a series like that. I hope you’ll be able to follow the story. I dislike starting in the iddle of a series even if I can follow the plot I feel like I miss part of the story and past and I don’t like that. I voted for Darklove as the cover looks great! I like the colours on it. I hope you’ll enjoy whichever one wins 🙂

    • Very risky! I can’t believe I’m doing it on purpose though originally I got these when I didn’t realize they were part of a series. 🙂 But I do have a failsafe just in case it doesn’t work out. I’ll set the book aside and reach for a book- in order- from another series I’m trying to finish up from my TBR pile. I really want it to work because I’m determined to eliminate the older books from my review stack.

  • Good luck starting in the middle of a series. You never know how that will go especially when its UF. Good luck with that. It also depends on how easily you can catch on to the events of what is happening.

    • I know, totally nuts. We’ll see. I’ve got another book ready in the sidelines just in case it doesn’t work out.

  • Oh those both look amazing! I totally random picked because they book look good. lol

    • LOL! I didn’t know which one to grab, either.

  • I voted for Dark Love although I’m wondering if you can skip the first four books…

    • Not sure, but if it wins, I’ll do my best. I’ve got a fail safe in that if I can’t get into it midstream then I’ll set it aside and reach for my next World of the Lupi series book.

  • I went with Flamebound simply because there’s only one previous book so not so much to figure out.

    • Ah, thanks for having my back, reader pal Lorna. 🙂

  • I picked Dark Love….love that title!

    • That is a title that draws one in. Thanks, Sharonda!
