Not going to lie, I picked up this book mostly because of the author, Roni Loren, but also because who doesn’t like a bad boy rock band lead singer? And now I really need the rest of he band’s story. I have scented gel pens from Barnes & Noble that I can bribe her with….yep, yep that’s what I am going with, pens to bribe for more stories *smile & laughing*. Ok, no, I won’t give up my stash of pens, but yeah, I really want some more Wanderlust!
Nothing like getting pushed to do a cover story of a band when you are a restaurant critic. That’s what happens to Aubrey Bordelon. Following a band around to get a story isn’t her idea of kicks and giggles, but the minute she hears the sultry voice of Lex Logan, she is pulled into a memory of a time when music and craziness where her thing …. only to be picked out of the crowd of screaming fans for a crazy stunt.
These two were an interesting match with lots of hidden doors that make up their pasts. Lex is the laid back singer, who has gotten a little tired of all the women throwing themselves at him, but the buttoned up Aubrey pulls at something deep within him. While on the other side he is trying to keep Aubrey away from what is really happening with the band as they come off a successful tour and now need to cut a new record.
Aubrey is you straight and proper young lady until you start peeling back the layers to see what she really wants and needs. Her past is holding her prisoner and little by little Lex is cutting the chains away. She has very good reasons for her actions, but as the chains start to unravel, you come to love the real person she is and not what she has become through circumstances.
Lex comes off more “evil” in a way as he tries to push Aubrey off the story on the secrets of the band which sets off some steamy scenes that almost had me bursting in flames. In turn, though, we see sides of Lex we weren’t expecting as he starts to protect Aubrey and drag her from the shell her life has become. Insensitive in the beginning, I grew to adore this man for what he did for Aubrey outside of the bedroom as much as in it.
The story weaves through the their lives as we see Aubrey at work to Lex with his bandmates. Sean, Gunner and Jared make up the rest of the band and their interaction with the couple is cute, sexy and even painful at times. I really want the story for each of these guys and I am not above bribing the author to write them.
Roni Loren writes books I love and want to re-read. Her growth as an author has been phenomominal and I immediately went to grab her next book int he Loving on the Edge Series. I can’t get enough of her stories! This brought everything I wanted in a book, sex, laughter, crying, redemption and love. Sexy times I am telling you. Sexy times!
