Time is getting closer and closer to Authors After Dark in Savannah. Have you signed up yet?
Authors After Dark (AAD) will be in Savannah, Georgia in August 15 – 18, 2013. If you have not registered yet you still have time, but hurry before it sells out!
Author of such fan favorites as the Betsy the Vampire Queen novels, the Fred the Mermaid books and several other stories, including the werewolves of Wyndham, MaryJanice is an institution in the romance industry.
There are several themed activities this year that I for sure don’t want to miss:
Here are a list of some of the special events so far:
- Formal Bookie Awards
- Vampire Ball
- BDSM Bingo
- Steampunk Tea
- Riverboat Dinner (limited availability)
- Rednecks and Romance with Torquere Press
- Elemental Masque
Authors After Dark is one of the most affordable conferences I have seen, but also packs a punch with author interactions, meals, parties and just plain having a great time! AADSAV costs $240 and includes several lunchs and 2-3 dinners for the balls. The conference makes no money. Everything is funneled back in the conference to make sure the readers have a great time, are fed and take home tons of great swag and books.
Authors After Dark Savannah Nights is taking place at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel. The room rates have been negotiated to a lower rate of $139.00 a night for double occupancy. Please keep in mind that hotel reservations CAN NOT be made over the phone. Personal hotel reservation information will be sent via email once registration is placed for the convention. For more info on the venue check out the AAD Venue PAGE.
Room availability is running low, but don’t let that stump you. Several people are still looking for roommates!
Shari from Delighted Reader attended her first AAD in New Orleans 2012. When I went, I had no idea what to expect, but because it was a smaller convention, I thought I could deal with all the activities (see I am an introvert). I found myself feeling so welcome and comfortable with the authors and fellow readers/bloggers. I even met up with some ladies that I still remember and check-in on from time to time on FB.
One thing I highly recommend is planning how you are going to get all your books/swag/souvenirs/corsets/make up and many other things home after this conference. Bring an extra suitcase or prepare for shipping ahead of time because you don’t want to be like me. I didn’t plan ahead and had to go buy a duffle bag to carry over 50 books home in. Well, I think I dragged it mostly through the airports because it was like 50 lbs. and not a sturdy duffle at that. This year I won’t be caught like that. I will have the extra room, shipping or a car trunk to pack it all in!
You’ve probably seen all the authors have had here that are going to AAD. Let’s just show you a sampling of them!
