The Delight
A sexy man who can sing more than just country music meets a woman who can kick his ass. What’s not to love about this story?
Hillbilly Rockstar is the latest installment in the Blacktop Cowboy series, which I have only read book one. I know, throw those stones at me now for just getting back to this series! Now I didn’t feel like I didn’t now what was going on, but there were references and some appearance of characters where I did notice I didn’t have the entire story.
Country music star Devin McClain is in a pickle. Well, some weird things are happening on tour that make the money men kind of nervous. Pushing against more security, Devin tries to get out of it until a woman puts him in his place. Precisely Liberty Masterson. She outlines everything that is a security risk, raises all of Devin’s hackles and thinks her job is done. But then Devin turns the tables on her as wants her on the team protecting him. In fact he wants her in charge. With a signing bonus, she takes on the extended job of protecting Devin. With her military background, she is up for the job. With her manish attitude and looks, she needs a make over and quick.
Posing at Devin’s personal assistant, she turns to her sister for make over help and shocks the hell out of Devin when she shows up on his new state of the art tour bus. Getting Devin to take it seriously is harder to convince and living in such close quarters both intrigues them both while making them snappy as all get out.
What I enjoyed was seeing a woman take on being the protective one and how it affected the male alphaness of Devin. Throw in some digs they both get into each other when they first meet. Some pretty mean and vicious stuff that they have to learn to deal with later on. Liberty takes the assignment for the extra money that she plans to use to buy a home and thinks everything is on a timer to end…even her love for Devin. Whereas Devin is willing to bend over backwards to make her realize he is the one.
There is also some heart stopping fight scenes, adrenaline rushes when Liberty has to sing and sweet moments at home with family. Let’s not forget first dates, bowling alleys, karaoke, and so much more.
Sexually…these two will do almost anything. It’s home and humid in the bus when these two get together. While they will do almost anything, not everything is a big love scene. And there is no shame at anything these two want to try. I love the openness they had with each other.
Hillbilly Rockstar is a great addition to Lorelei’s list of book. It can be read as a standalone or with in order and still enjoyed by all!

This sounds fab. I like the role reversal idea too. I’ve only read her other series. I might just have to skip books and jump into this one.
I have read a few of the western series but I don’t like it as much as everyone else. I love her contemporary shabari series…and my mind is blank on what it is called. This one was better than I was expecting because I am not a country music fan, lol.
I was only so-so on her other western series too. Haha! I like some country music so that won’t be a hardship.
