Fast and hot like an explosion of fireworks! Whew boy, this one got going fast and hard in this series of sultry encounters between two college students who had a thing for each other and finally did something about it.
Quickie reads are generally not my thing, but once in a while…
Yeah, this was that moment. There was just enough development so that I could buy into the story and the characters, but the author wisely left things in the right way for the ending. My first time with the author and I’m pretty sure that if I get in this mood again that I will check out her stuff.
Jaycee Hanson has been sitting behind the delectable Tyler Johnson in class for most of the semester. Her lusty thoughts should have scorched him by now, but she is pretty sure he barely knows she exists. He is her secret crush and she watches him from afar noting that he only goes around with black girls and doesn’t seem interested in a white girl.
But then one day in class, Tyler proves her very wrong. He not only acknowledges her tentative flirty advance, but he makes it clear that he is hot for some action right now. Jaycee has never been this bold, but she wants this so they end up together.
Tyler is never thought the pretty white girl would actually give him a chance. He has wanted Jaycee for quite some time and so he is alert to her signal that she is interested in him. Being with Jaycee is all that he imagined and he sees this as the start of something good until heated words by someone close to him send Jaycee running.
Two classmates secretly want each other and finally go for it. They deal with a moment of racial tension caused by someone else and have to decide if they are both serious about something more in this fast hot read. It jumps right in with minimal development, but for what it is, that was no surprise for me. I liked what I saw of the characters and their situation. I liked that the author didn’t try to do too much, but I did feel that this one ended abruptly. I knew where things were going, but still, it just stopped.
All in all, this one unapologetically is was it is- a fast, hot interracial New Adult read that I would recommend for those who are looking for that very thing.
My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I like quickie reds when their as good as this one sounds. Fast and to the point is good when you’re looking for that.
Yep, this one hit the spot. I don’t get in the mood often, but this one was perfect for fast and hot.

You can always count on Samhain to publish hot reads. Whew!
Whew is right! Oh to have the energy of a college kid. 😉
I like to read some short sories once in a while and as long as they are well written they can be a lot of fun. I like the sound fo how the girl makes the first move and they end up together. Although I am not sure if I would like that scene where some heated words by someone else send her running the other way.
It’s a good thing when authors don’t try to put too much in a short story, although that’s a shame about the abrupt ending.
Me, too. Once in a while, I want to start and finish a story in one sitting, but I still want it to have some substance.
Yeah, that was a tough situation when someone discriminated against her for her color and was mean to them both. Wish she would have stayed and talked it out, but I totally get feeling uncertain about the situation.
Woah, super short. I like classmate romance stories! I don’t read too much New Adult contemporary romance, but I like seeing what’s new in the genre. So glad to see a little more diversity, and not just in characters 😉 Fantastic review, Sophia!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yep, it was a fast one and I agree with enjoying the books with more diversity, Alyssa.
I enjoy short reads myself…they are great fillers in between the long ones 😀 This sounds pretty good Sophia even with the short ending
It was fun, hot and flirty. I felt like the ending rushed matters, but it did leave the big stuff tied up neatly.
