When it comes to holidays, November offers a couple that oddly enough are both celebrated for the same reason- a reminder to be thankful. One, Veteran’s Day, asks us to remember our military vets and be thankful for what they have done and the other, Thanksgiving, is a call to overall thankfulness and family gathering. So books that scream to me the thankfulness theme for these two holidays are on the agenda.
Here’s to Our Military Veterans! Reading Recommends
A Big Thank you to All who Served Their Country
First up, this is a no brainer since it combines both a military and thanksgiving theme.
Honestly, the whole series of novellas is chalk full of veterans and their different routes to romance so check them all
out and mix and match the ones that sound the most interesting since all, but two work as standalones.
A Marine of Plenty by Heather Long, #17 Always a Marine, Contemporary Romance
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18621948-a-marine-of-plenty?from_search=true
June Gray’s Disarm series,
Stacy Gail’s Starting From Scratch and
Juliana Stone’s The Christmas He Came Home
are also good Contemporary Romances with Veteran Hero
Next, a military vet with severe PTSD returning back to his small town home.
The Telling by Eden Winters, #1 The Telling, M/M Contemporary Romance
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18138621-the-telling
Also consider, Tyler Robbins’ Beyond Honor and
SJD Peterson’s Beyond Duty
for more M/M Contemporary Romance with military vet heroes.
What about a military vet in history? No VA hospitals and counselors then; just the love of a patient woman.
The Captive by Grace Burrowes, #1 Captive Hearts, Historical Romance
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22538784-the-captive
I would also suggest Jo Beverley’s Three Heroes and several other of her Rogue series books,
Mary Balogh’s The Survivor’s Club series and
Carla Kelley’s The Admiral’s Pennyless Bride
along with many others from her backlist for more Historical Romance with military veteran heroes.
Let’s not leave out the Paranormal Romance niche either.
Even shifters do their bit for country and some come home from war damaged.
Actually this whole series offers a team of shifter heroes who came back from the war needing a bit of loving.
Kodiak’s Claim by Eve Langlais, #1 Kodiak Point, Paranormal Romance
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22588093-kodiak-s-claim
JD Tyler’s Alpha Pack series, Paige Tyler’s X-Ops series,
Terry Spear’s SEAL wolves are all good bets for Paranormal Military Vets.

As an Air Force Vet, and a lover of all veterans who have served where no man (or woman) dares to go, glad to see your nod. You mention a few great titles I have to check out, as well. Thankful Tuesday to you! Hugs…www.intheknowwithro.blogspot.com
Thank you for your part, RO! My parents were out of McClellan AFB. My brother is at Hill AFB right now.
Have fun poking around amongst this pile of books. I could have made a much longer list as I love military romances. 😉
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday too! Happy Veteran’s Day!
I’m a huge fan of Kodiak’s Claim, and the first three books in the series are all veterans (all that are out so far). I’ll have to check out some of the others.
The Mane Event (Pride #1) by Shelly Laurenston is another great PNR that is funny and has veterans in it. As a matter of fact, both hero and heroine in the first story (two stories in this book) are former military. Hero of second story is also a veteran. If you like Kodiak’s Claim, I recommend this series.
Good to know, Melanie! I haven’t picked up Shelly’s books yet, but I can see that they’ll be a hit when I do. I love PNRomCom to change up from the more serious ones now and then. And stir in a military hero? Yum!
I would also like to recommend Melissa Schroeder’s books! Her husband just retired from the military and she has some hunky men who keep us safe. Also Larissa Ione is a veteran who now writes some of the best paranormal romances. Cat Johnson writes good ones too. Eliza Gayle is a veteran too, that I adore reading. I know there are more, but am going blank all of a sudden.
These are great suggestions. I also like Jeannette Murray and Jessica Scott, but I recommended them last year. 😉 I didn’t know that Larissa is a Vet. That just made her more cool.
Yep, both Larissa Ione and Eliza Gayle are Veterans. And Melissa Schroeder grew up with a military family and married a man in the military. I think she is now enjoying life for the first time outside of the military. There are probably more, but we will save those for next year 🙂
Great rec’s Sophia. Aliyah Burke writes awesome military romances (ir romances). I think you will like her books 😉
Oh, I’ll have to try her books out for sure. I think I might have read and liked one of hers already. Vague feeling of familiarity.
I love these recommendations. I loved reading Captive–thats a good choice. I do need to read Kodiak’s Claim…and I have been thinking on reading that this month. Thanks for sharing these…definitely a good reminder.
You’re welcome! Hope you have a good time with Kodiak’s Claim. Its got a lot of fun scenes.
