What’s it all about?

Very simple!  Each month I take the word prompt for that month and create a blog post of anything I want using that word.  My personal goal for participating in this challenge is for you to learn a bit about me each month.

This month’s prompt is: SKY

The SKY is an endless source of fascination for me.  I do enjoy looking up now and then and just losing myself in the view.  It does wonders for giving me some calm and perspective. The SKY is vast and reminds me that what has me upset or is twisting me up with a decision probably isn’t as big as I’m making it out to be.

I love how the SKY changes throughout the day with light shifts and weather patterns.  I should include skylines in cities, looking up at the sky through trees, stars out away from town, moon, the occasional planet sighting, watching birds soar and air shows.

But, I think what has me pulling the camera/phone out the most are clouds and sunsets.  So I’m showing off a few of my amateur photography attempts at both.

Are you someone who enjoys looking up, too?  What’s your favorite thing to find in the sky?

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

We love to go out to the beach early before the sun rises and watch it come up over the horizon.

I’ll bet those sunrises are just beautiful, Jenea!

Looking at the sky does remind a person how small some of our problems are in the scheme of things. Sunsets and sunrises can be so beautiful! I do love looking at clouds, though. My favorite are puffy with a lot of grays! I like the tumultuous looking ones. Excellent post and pictures, Sophia Rose! 🙂

Beautiful pictures Sophia! I love looking up at the sky as well. I enjoy the view of the sky with trees, the beach, or the mountains as part of the background. Fun post! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Lindy! Always something interesting to see in the sky or with the sky.

To be honest, I don’t think about the sky much. But I do think the gorgeous views are very underappreciated and overlooked by how busy we think we are.

Thanks for sharing you beautiful pictures!

You are so right. There is some truth in the ‘stop and smell the roses’ aphorism. I feel that way about the sky, too.

Lovely photos! I always like seeing what shapes/figures I can see in the clouds. 🙂

Yes! It is fun to imagine what the clouds look like and how one little change can alter it to something else.

You took some great pictures. I like taking sky pictures when it looks like it’s gonna rain.

Yes! Dark and ominous skies can be beautiful in their own way.

I love this prompt, Sophia! One of my favorite things about my commute is looking at the sky and all its changes. Especially when I get to see the sunrise and all of its colors. It would give me hope in high school when I was going through a rough time.

Neat that your commute gives you a chance to look up at a pretty sky.
Ahhh, that is cool how pretty sunrises helped you get through tough times in high school.

I do love looking at how pretty the sky can be. We sometimes don’t notice how gorgeous our world can be. Lovely photos, Sophia Rose!

You are so right. I just saw the most gorgeous pink and purple sunset Saturday night. 🙂

Lovely pictures, Sophia! I love watching dark storm clouds roll through. I have a massive stone church at the end of the block and when the dark clouds roll in it makes for a nice gothic atmosphere.

Oh yeah, that would be a totally cool view. 🙂 Even better with lightning striking in the night behind it. (we had a night storm last night) 🙂

I love looking up at the sky. I’m getting used to it out here in the PNW and it changes every single day which is cool. No two days look the same, even from the same vantage point.

Beautiful pics!

That is so true, Karen. No two look alike. I’ve seen some pretty ones in my friend’s pics for Washington State so I know what you mean about how lovely they are out there. 🙂

You got some nice pictures of the sky. Now that I am walking more often I find myself looking at both the sky and the ground more often and it’s awesome to see how both can change form day to day. I also like sunsets and sunrises, although I don’t see the latter very often.

Yes! Going out on my walks has shown me some great looks at the sky, clouds, and sunrise/sunsets. So pretty or even just interesting.

I like the pictures!
I love the night sky. Where I grew up, there wasn’t a lot of light pollution and one of my favourite things to do was sit out on the sloping roof that came down from my bedroom, wrapped in a blanket, and stare at the stars. Like you said, it has a way of putting things in perspective as it’s so vast.

Sophia Rose

Ah, that is neat that you had the night sky and your place on the roof when you were a kid. 🙂

I’m with you. I like to look at the sky, but when I do manage to take a pic, it is the sunset or when a storm is rolling in. Nice post!
