The Delight
Having alpha Jon pushing Ali against the wall passionately and then leaving her only to have her on his mind all the time. Yep, I love making an alpha male sweat it out.
Jon Rudnick is home on leave when he goes to a party at a friends house and meetsĀ Alison Cressly. Dedicating his life to the Navy SEALs, he doesn’t offer anything more to Ali than a one nightstand. While Ali wants more, she won’t be the girl that hangs on his coat tails and nags him. So they move on with their lives until circumstances make them both question what they truly want.
Red tape is holding Jon hostage in the career he loves, but when that same red-tape ties his hands in a rescue attempt of Ali, he and his friends decide its time to leave the SEALs and start their own corporation.
The story is extremely quick. A powerful attractions has Jon and Ali wanting more, but their lives don’t allow for more. The romance was quick and while believable, I just couldn’t find the passion to connect these two.
Ali is an independent woman making her way through life. While Jon is the alpha male keeping our country safe. Pretty basic premise and story that didn’t jump out to me as unusual. I am hoping with further stories in this series we will get to see more of the characters interact without being separated. Maybe even a little more action.
For a quick read with a start to a hopefully great series, this one will get you going and asking for the second book.

Sounds like it needed to be a longer book so it could develop. I love military team stories so hopefully the rest of the series will get stronger after this set up book.
I think if the story had been longer and he was stateside more than out with the team, then it might have been a good book. I think now that they are all retiring to start their own company, the rest of the series could be good.
This tends to happen with shorter stories, sorry to hear it didn’t work out as much as you wanted though. I do love those alpha males though.
I am going to try book 2 and see if it gets better with all the ground work now laid out. Short story with a story line building just got in the way of enjoying the story.
Normally, I really enjoy a good Seals or military story, particularly when there’s a little bit of intrigue mixed in. Somehow, I didn’t feel any real connection between the two lead characters based on your review. Perhaps, as you mentioned, in further books, the heroes will have more to offer. Hugs…
Maybe now that we have the ground work for the series, I can feel a connection between characters. This one needed more time to gel.
I am not a big fan of military romances, so I think I wil skip this series. It sounds like a basic premise, with some potential for more. I hope the rest of the series is even better. Great review!
