The Delight
I had such a fun time with this book. It was some of what I expect and some not what I expected. Eve Langlais takes a serious subject, injects some heat and laughter to come out with a great story that grabs you by the balls…or not if you are a female.
Review
What a cute, but deadly story! I didn’t know what to expect going into a story where the hero is an assassin. Does he have a conscience? Kill anyone and everyone for a paycheck? Or does he have morals…standards. Right away she throws you into a mission with Calvin. You see him in action and it doesn’t end the way you think it will. I laughed because it was actually funny how he finished the mission without really having to finish the mission.
Calvin has a pretty quiet life outside of work. He owns a house, renovates it, but also has it secured to a T. He has no family or entanglements and he loves his suits. In comes Lily to the story. A newly single mom takes on a rental house next door with her daughter Zoe. She’s broke, finalizing a divorce to an abusive husband who doesn’t want to let her go, and trying to create a new life for her daughter and herself. Just what Calvin doesn’t want or need.
A series of events put both parties on alert, but for different reasons. Calvin is suave and while he is upset at first, he starts to warm to the idea of getting involved with Lily. Lily for her part is a little more reluctant after leaving her husband to get involved with a dominant guy.
Eve takes these two characters and makes them real, turning the assassin into a hero more than a deadly, cold hearted villain and an abuse victim into a strong heroine. What you go in expecting is not what you get. I found depth to characters I wasn’t expecting. These two were sexy while also being real people with hopes and fears. I enjoyed myself immensely reading this book!
Now I can’t wait to get the next book and the next one and even the next one in this series!

I didn’t know how I was going to like him being an assassin, but he is one with morals, so I guess I will forgive him. I ended up loving his character.
Yep, I must read this one. I’ve enjoyed some of her more recent ones that get into heftier subject (along with my pursuit of the backlist). How to make the killer a hero. LOL
You have to read it. I have a hit or miss relationship with Eve’s books, but this was a good one, testing my own morals of what I can take,
This sounds really good! I have heard so many great things about Eve Langlais but haven’t tried her books yet. I love that the assassin becomes the Hero of the story.
I usually shy away from assassin stories, ut I am glad I gave this one a try.
