I have been wanting to read a Cat Johnson book for a very long time. Just that TBR pile never seems to go down. So when I saw this book, BB Dalton, free on Amazon I snapped it up! While it was extremely short, it gave me a taste of Cat Johnson’s writing…enough of one that I went out and ordered a few more of her books. Now to free up my schedule to read them!
BB Dalton is one of nine kids. There is much love in this family, but not exactly a lot of money. So when BB (short for Billy Bob) wants to go to college, the only thing he has is a pretty face so he goes in to modeling. When 9/11 devastates the US, BB automatically signs up for the Navy and becomes a Seal and even further. He has filled out since his modeling days and now has the rippling muscles to show it.
With recruits for the SEALs dropping like flies, the Navy decides they need to beef up their marketing campaign with hot shots of their soldiers. BB is the perfect candidate for the job even if he doesn’t want to do it.
BB is assigned a handler, Katie, is 11 years his senior, but ever so hot. After a failed marriage, Katie has thrown herself into her career and is at the top of her game. She is attracted to BB, but being older, knows she can’t “tap that”. But BB won’t let her run. Age is just a number, and it doesn’t mean anything to him. He knows what he wants and he goes after it.
That’s it. The story is extremely short and by the time you get to the meat of the story, it’s over. But what was there was a good story, I just wanted more. It has some hot scenes, so turned on scenes and you even meet BB’s family briefly. The one good thing…it made me buy the first books in this series.
