The Delight
I was late to the skating party on this sizzling hot prequel to the Chicago Rebels hockey romance series and to this author’s books, but between rave reviews and this being a permanent freebie, I came to it at last.
Review
In Skate’s Trouble introduces the underdog cellar-dwelling Rebel Hockey club, Harper the daughter of the team owner who is in line as the future CEO, and one of the star players. But, I barely noticed that because Ford “Killer” Callaghan, star Right-Wing of the New Orleans’ Cajuns and Addie Williams, full-figured lingerie model, designer, and now her own company heated things up off ice from the opening salvo. You see… our man Ford overhears a few women on the next hotel balcony over discussing oral sex and he is all fired up for a clandestine balcony to balcony version of phone sex in the dark. Addie isn’t lagging behind and each steamy encounter is hotter than the last.
But, this young hockey player can’t be serious and he’s not for her, right? Or at least her fears after her last relationship taught her to keep her distance.
I loved how, even though he’s younger and has troubles and a past of his own, Ford fights hard for what he believes is the real thing no matter how it started or how quickly it advanced. He takes the gumption and drive he used to be an NHL star to convincing Addie to give them a chance. I also enjoyed the side plot of Ford trying to repair the painful past with his family.
Most of the story had little to do with the Chicago Rebels until right near the end, but Harper played a large role as main side character and I am definitely all for reading her story- a feisty lady CEO of a hockey franchise? Yes, please!
This was hot stuff. However, for all the sexy encounters, there was a story here and character development. I definitely want more of the author’s books and this series. Recommend to those who enjoy spicy hot sports romance.
Incidentally, this seems to be permanently free so its there waiting for your one-click pleasure.

I read all the books in this series, but not the novella (which I have). Sounds like it would be worth a look, when I am in the mood for a bit of hockey romance.
Oh cool! Sounds like it keeps up with all the good stuff if you read them all, Sam. 🙂
I love a sexy sports romance, and Ford sounds like a character I’d swoon over. Especially the way he goes after Addie! I really enjoyed Kate Meader’s firefighter series. It looks like I need to check this series one out as well, and you can’t go wrong with free! Great Review Sophia 🙂
Oh yes, I need to get her firefighters, too. Ford was such a wonderful hero, Lindy. Free test drives on series are the best.
MmmmMMMMmm I am tempted especially if it is free…
One- click it, girlfriend!
I loved the series, I think I missed the prequel. Gads.
I timed this freebie well then. 🙂
I haven’t read many sports themed romances lately, but when I do, I like for the sports part to be more of a focal point along with the romance. I’m a fan of basketball, football, track, MMA and bodybuilding, and usually stay away from the hockey stuff though. As always, love your review. Hugs, RO
That is a good group of sports to love. I favor baseball ones, but I won’t say no to the others. 🙂
Happy Wednesday, Radiant Ro!
