The Delight

Cyborg Black Ops Team out to save the Galaxy! How could I resist? Each cyborg adventure got better than the one before it.

The books are standalone sci-fi romance adventures, but the overall series arc does build so works best in order.

Full disclosure, I read these books as they released and didn’t binge the boxed set though I re-read a couple of my favorite stories.  They aren’t that long and read quickly.  Re-reading reminded me of all the things I enjoyed about these in the first place.  The humor and banter struck me this time.

The Men of Mettle world is a futuristic sci-fi world where humans are joined by other alien races in the galaxy. One of those races are religious extremists who are dead set on killing off everyone else and taking over the other galaxy governments. But, a top secret cy-ops crew work in the shadows to break up their plots while along the way finding the fierce heroines who will stand beside them.

The author writes some intense action scenes and clever intrigues along with spicy romances, but she doesn’t stint on the worldbuilding. I loved encountering each race and the fact that they all had their own way of thinking and acting. I loved the camaraderie among the group of men who volunteered for the cyborg program so they could keep serving their race even after their original body got mangled and beat up in military service the first time. The heroines who aren’t all human like the cyborg men all possess intelligence and heart and don’t get left behind when the action happens.

All in all, it is an abso-fab cyborg romance series that I can heartily recommend. Incidentally, at the time I wrote this review, the boxed set was on sale.

I was born and raised near Sacramento, CA. I have read since I was four years old and developed tastes that run the gamut of literature. I went away to college and have a degree in education, a certificate in family history research, and a certificate in social work. I worked for a non-profit agency with low income families for 20 years which included being responsible for the children’s library and promoting/teaching adult literacy. I have lived in Southeast Michigan for the last 18 years and I am currently a book addicted homemaker with a cat and husband who keep me grounded. Recently, I made it a challenge to review each book that I have read as a favor to author friends who said reviews are important. I have done reviews for Good Reads, Amazon, eBay, and Smashwords, but mostly at Goodreads and Amazon.

I’ve never tried this author, but it sounds like something I’d enjoy. I like the fact that the stories aren’t that long. I’m guessing the 1290 pages is for the box set?

Yes, maybe long-novella length. They move along quickly, but don’t chintz on the world development or the suspense element.

This sounds like a series that could be a lot of fun. I don’t think that I have read a cyborg romance before but I like the sound of it.
