The Delight
I was thrilled to discover this bundle on sale featuring three side story novellas from a favorite series that I haven’t had the chance to read yet.
Review
The novellas are all organized well with the first one introducing the Order Command Center in Rome, the four main Breed Vampires that will feature in the stories, and the overall situation. These are novellas from late in the series so they do tend to rely on the fact that the reader is familiar with the author’s paranormal Breed world and the overall series arc story where these novellas fall in the series. They fall between three larger novels, but they work just fine if read after book twelve all in a row like I did.
First up is #12.5 in the series, ‘Tempted by Midnight’.
This was Lazaro’s story. He’s been a side character for several books now. My heart ached for him when he lost his breedmate and family except his grandson in one of evil Dragos’ raids. Now, its twenty years later and he’s still holding to his loss and afraid to let anyone close to him. Lazaro runs the Order headquarters in Rome and it is through his work there that he encounters Melena after an explosion breaks off a private peace conference.
I wanted to shake Lazaro for resisting what he really wanted for so long, but his attitude was understandable. If only, he hadn’t been yanking Melena around while he figured it out. Great twist at the end.
Second is #13.5, ‘Stroke of Midnight’
This second story is with Lazaro’s second in command, Jehan getting the summons to go home to Morocco and fulfill a family obligation. He figures to walk away from the arranged mating until he claps eyes on Seraphina and her compassionate work. Seraphina thinks she has Jehan all pegged until he rocks her world with his generous nature and his appeal. But, they both have vital work in two different places.
This was a quick, fast tale, but had a sensual and exciting plot that I enjoyed.
Third is #14.5, ‘Midnight Untamed’
This time it is Savage’s story. Oh, and it is a second chance romance when he discovers his long ago lover in a tight situation with a dirty drug dealer working with Opus Nostrum to sell a drug that turns breed vampires into rogues. Bella never knew why Savage left her and now, she can’t let him rescue her or bad things will happen to her family who are held hostage to keep her working for her evil master.
Loved the romance and the action, and I love the little romance developing on the sidelines for Bella’s sister in law.
So, three novellas from the Breed Vamps of Rome. They were all exciting and I enjoyed the couples’ stories which were unique. Fans of the series will probably love these side story adventures between the larger novel releases. This is a solid PNR series and I definitely recommend it to lovers of the genre.

Oooo, I have one of these 1,001 Dark Nights bundles! I haven’t read it yet but I have read several 1,001 Dark Nights novellas and realyl enjoyed them. I’m definitely in a vampire romance mood so this might be something for me to look into!
Great review, Sophia! Have a lovely weekend. =)

This was my first of the bundles. I couldn’t resist a $.99 sale and they were all from a series I love and all novellas that I hadn’t read. Yes, this is a great series if you are in the vampire romance mood. I’ll have to watch for more of the bundles.
it’s great to have some good short stories like that
Yes! When I want some thing quick and not so intimidating by its size this was a perfect fit.
I have one of these bundles too but I’m not sure which one, hihi (need to check it out later, *wink). Although not all of them works for me, I love reading novellas especially after suffering from reading slump. I’m glad you enjoyed them Sophia Rose 🙂
Oh, it would be neat if the bundle was this one. Ah man, yes, a shorter novella can help when in a reading slump. Hopefully, your slump will be over soon. 🙂
Cool beans for finding this Sophia Rose and on sale Win Win! 😉
Yes! I was so excited. $.99 for three novellas that I hadn’t read before in a series I love. 🙂
14.5?! I am sooo behind! But not quite as bad the J.D. Robb books . . .
Oh man, I know the feeling. I’m only on book four of the Robb series. I probably won’t catch up before I kick it. LOL
Oh goodness, I love her books so much. Glad to hear you found this and loved it.
Yes! I’ve been really good about not buying books, but I couldn’t resist $.99 for these three stories. Worth it! 🙂
I like that you get a few novellas together. It took me forever to figure out what these 1001 Nights were.
Glad I’m not the only one who was confused. I thought they were all these writers doing something with Arabian Nights and Scheherazade or something. But, I got unconfused after a while and started snatching up the ones by favorite authors. 😉
I loved getting three novellas bunched up together like this. So handy and cheaper!
I’ve read all three of these. I wish I had waited for the better price! My only problem with these are how short they are. I’m usually left wanting just a bit more. But then I am greedy when it comes to a favorite series like this one!
I agree. I’m not as inclined to jump on the novellas in series b/c I hate paying $3 or more for a 100 pages and knowing there is a good chance that I’ll be left wanting. That’s pretty much why I hadn’t read any of these already. 🙂 I am tempted to read the final Rome Order guy’s novella that came out after these b/c he was the most intriguing to me and I met the heroine as one of the Atlanteans in the Defy the Dawn book.
I do need to get back to this series very soon. I am glad that these novellas were well done.
I did a little sprint through Defy the Dawn and then this bundle so I can be almost up to date since I have the new release from March for review. It’s a solid series.
