The Delight

Sexy men becoming a daddy? What’s not to love? This series has grabbed me for the tongue in cheek humor of couples finding out oops! they are pregnant. Most are oops with a few planned, but everyone agrees, there is something in the water at Crescent Cove!

Snowed in rocker makes unplanned baby with saucy waitress. News at 11.

Ivy is a spunky waitress at the local diner. She has plans for an ice cream truck in her future, but like everything, you need money to start a business. Working at the diner forever isn’t her dream, but a means to an end. Experimenting with ice cream flavors is her go to stress reliever and a good thing too as she is going to need those flavors for her ice cream truck. Starting a family isn’t front and center on her list of things to do, but it is something she longs for and will get to when things settle down. In the mean time, she is going to have a little fun with the guy who is trapped in town by a snow storm.

Rory rolls into Crescent Cove in a tiny rental car during a winter storm to meet up with Kellan McGuire (Rockstar Baby). Helping Kellan to produce his solo album is the only thing he is here to do with his busy schedule. Hungry he checks into his B&B (Sage from Claiming His Baby) and decides to grab a bite to eat at the diner nearby only to be severely attracted to his waitress. Exchanging zinging barbs and flirtatious looks, the two wind up in bed together for what they think is just a one-night stand.

Except Rory can’t stay away. Two months later he is back to see Kellan, winds up having his fantastic lovemaking interrupted by the cops and some time rocking out with his best friends…yeah, Rory claims he doesn’t have friends, but he finds out that he really does.  He loves his job, but finds himself intrigued with Ivy. Enough to have him question if he wants Ivy after having been burned in the past. Only this time when he leaves he leaves a little something of himself with Ivy.

So before we get to the baby troupe part where everyone gets upset she didn’t tell him about the baby. She tries several times to call him, even text him, but he doesn’t accept either. In his defense, he was confused about what he was feeling and there is more to it than I want to spoil.

This is first a cute, sexy story of a couple giving into their lusty sides and having a good time. It happens a second time, but over a little longer time. They make a promise that at any time they can cut off this thing between them if they are moving on, just to be honest with the other. So Rory thinks Ivy is calling him to be honest that she has met someone, thus he doesn’t want to answer. On top of that he told Ivy he wasn’t the marrying kind, nor was he planning on having kids. She makes the attempt to contact him about it all, while he attempts to understand what he is feeling and avoid what he thinks is the brushoff. Kind of like if I don’t talk to her, then she can’t move one….yeah, kind of dump male thinking.

Rory is a more complex character as we move along and it helps that he has a Scottish accent to imagine talking in our ear as we read. He deals with issues he has forced down, avoided the feelings he thinks he feels and genuinely thinks he is a happy guy.

Ivy admits to loving Rory in her mind right away, but knows this isn’t something Rory wants. She knows he likes her, but to have a baby together takes more than like. When she can’t get him to respond to her, she pushes forward with her ice cream truck, knowing she has to make a living and life for the baby she is carrying.

These two … gosh I love them. Ivy is sweet, feisty and a woman with a purpose. She knows what she wants even if it takes a while to get there. Hard works isn’t something she is afraid of, nor does she shy away from it. Rory is a great guy, he just needs to face his demons and get past the mental blocks holding him back from Ivy, but also from his career and friendships.

We get to see characters from other rock band series that this duo authors write together. Kellan from Wilder Rock Series, Ian and Zoe from Rock Revenge, and the Oblivion family. The gang was all there for at least parts of the story. Ian as it turns out is best friends with Rory…and Rory just figured that one out!

Crescent Cove (formerly Dirty DILF’s) is a quirky series of stories about men who would make great daddy’s meeting the woman who so want to be mommy’s and a little fertility help from God only knows where. Sometimes you just need a series to make you laugh and cheer on couples who get miracle surprises!

I know a lot of readers get mad about secret babies but that’s never bothered me because they usually have a good reason in their own minds. This sounds pretty good.

This definitely sounds like a good one! I will have to check out the other books in the series. Great review!

I really like the sound of this one, Shari! I love a good rocker story and the baby situation sounds well done. I have the first book in the series if I can ever find the time to read it.

Oh man, I already want to know her- ice cream! Neat how he learns more about himself when it comes to having friends and that not all women will burn him.
I don’t like Secret Baby Trope b/c the heroine hides the truth, but I will read long enough to find out if she didn’t hide the truth so I’d have been all right with this scenario.
