The Delight
I’m pregnant. That’s how it all starts. The bad boy bar owner, Logan, rocked Dana’s world for one night only and now they are joined at the belly. A surprise pregnancy throws life into chaos, but with sweet results that will warm your heart and bed.
Review
The story opens with a bang when Dana confronts Logan at the bar about getting her pregnant. Logan is excited at learning he was having a baby with Dana. Dana is a great mom to her two daughters. Win-win in his mind. Dana always figured she would have another child, but she thought it would be with her deceased husband. Now two years after his death, she is single, pregnant, and not ready for a wannabe daddy.
This story is so conflicting! Not in a bad way. Dana goes to her single parent support group for advice because Logan wants to be a full partner in their baby’s life. On the advice of her friends, she lets Logan take over the duties she doesn’t care for in the care of her kids.
Logan takes on these jobs with all of his heart. The youngest isn’t dealing with the death of her father in a traditional way, but instead of alienating her, he embraces it. Going to cemeteries and haunted places in New Orleans may seem morbid, but it builds a bond between them that he accepts her for her. The oldest just joined a dance team and he becomes a dance dad. This endeared him totally to me as I was a dance mom for 13 years! He doesn’t know how to do hair, but he doesn’t let that stop him. In the end, he becomes a father without trying. He just adores them. But Dana continues to hold him at distance.
Dana doesn’t mind giving up the duties she embraces, but she also feels he oversteps his bounds as he isn’t their father. She pushed him out of important conversations and events when he just wanted them to be a family.
Honest to God, I loved Logan! He took on the responsibility without complaint and he did it his way. Each kid bonded with him in a different way and he wanted the responsibility of being their stepfather. He wanted to marry Dana right away, but she declined. That said, I understood Dana wasn’t just going to marry a man over a pregnancy, but I felt she froze him out. She wasn’t used to her deceased husband being home. Special Forces, he only came home from time to time and when he was there, it was “fun” time. She put up with it wanting her kids to have good memories of their father. Now she figures that’s all Logan wants, but when he wants more, she resists.
We don’t see what led up to the night of passion, only the results. Dana is in Gabe’s (Logan’s older brother) single parent group, so they knew each other from family get together. Logan was a book boyfriend I would love to have. So move over Dana. If you don’t want him, I do.
