Sophia Rose’s Update

Howdy-ho, everyone!

August has been a busy month.  The first week and a half I was still out visiting family in Utah and camping out in some gorgeous places.  I don’t want to give the impression that I was roughing it since we took my dad’s RV.  He had an itchy foot so I was able to see scenery along highway 93 in Eastern Nevada (and the Extra-terrestrial Hwy) that included camping at Cave Lake and Cathedral Gorge.  I walked the rail trail hike at Golden Spike Nat’l Park in Promontory Point, Utah, communed with nature at Moon Lake, Flaming Gorge, and Bear Lake campgrounds in Utah and saw some buffalo at Bear River State Park outside Evanston, Wyoming.

But, then it was back to Michigan and settling affairs after being gone for a few weeks.  Amazing how much can pile up in your absence.  Including a few dreaded dental work visits.

Then, a friend who is the local animal shelter gal, tapped me for a couple rescue cats.  I hadn’t shared this, but my own old cat passed away so I was able to say yes.  Bailey, a black and white 6 mo. male, was a feral so is slowly getting used to socializing with humans and Annie, a tabby-calico mix 14 mo female, came out of a bad hoarder house situation.  Slowly, but surely they are coming out of their shells and look great after some early vet work to deal with the health and neglect issues that came from their circumstances.

On the book front, I haven’t been doing as much reading lately and its even been a struggle to want to pick up a book (gasp, I know), but I’ve still been working on my challenges (especially COYER) and trying to keep up with the new releases I picked up.  Apparently, if you want me to say yes to your book for review, hit me up for August or September.  I had no willpower and said yes to way more than I could possibly read by their release days.  LOL

Anyhoots, on to my actual reading and numbers.

You both had such a busy month! Shari – I sent my baby off to college and that seemed to be exhausting enough. I don’t think I could have juggled much more. Kudos to you! Sophia Rose – I am glad that you were able to get some traveling in. I am sorry to hear about your cat but congratulations on the new additions.

I hope that September is kind to both of you!

Thanks, Carole! August was something else. 🙂 Appreciate the well wishes. He lived a long, full life and we still miss him, but this new pair keeps us on our toes. 🙂

Sophia I’m so sorry you lost your cat. I didn’t realize when I saw your cat pictures the other day. I lost my cat 14 years ago and then rescued a tabby and a black and white kitten as well.

Sheri- You’ve got way too much on your plate these days. I hope your neck is feeling better!

No worries, Lorna! I’m doing much better and was ready for my new furry friends. Oh that’s funny that you got exactly the same type of pair. 🙂

Well the shelter had named the tabby Lorna so how could I resist? I renamed her Katie and horribly lost her to lymphoma two years ago. The tuxedo cat, Molly, is getting old but is very active and loving. The two grew up together.

So sad about Katie. I lost my first black and white that way. Glad you still have Molly cat to keep you company.

It was a fun trip and I loved seeing all the new places. Ah yes, my newbies are a trip, but I already adore them terribly. 🙂
