Each month, I will post up a pair (or more) of books. I would like you to vote on a choice. Yes! You will have the job of telling me what to read from my pile each month. I welcome your vote no matter what reason you choose (frivolous, serious or otherwise) that particular book and do share your reason in the comments just because I’m nosy. I will of course share my thoughts on the book itself in my review post.
Emergency Workers is the Theme this month- firefighters, EMS, medical, and police. Incidentally, thank you tall who work those jobs.
Candidate #1
Pure Heat by ML Buchman
#1 Firehawks
These daredevil smokejumpers fight more than fires.
The elite fire experts of Mount Hood Aviation fly into places even the CIA can’t penetrate.
She lives to fight fires…
Carly Thomas could read burn patterns before she knew the alphabet. A third-generation forest fire specialist who lost both her father and her fiancé to the flames, she’s learned to live life like she fights fires: with emotions shut down.
But he’s lit an inferno she can’t quench…
Former smokejumper Steve “Merks” Mercer can no longer fight fires up close and personal, but he can still use his intimate knowledge of wildland burns as a spotter and drone specialist. Assigned to copilot a Firehawk with Carly, they take to the skies to battle the worst wildfire in decades and discover a terrorist threat hidden deep in the Oregon wilderness—but it’s the heat between them that really sizzles.
Candidate #2
Protecting What’s His by Tessa Bailey
#1 Line of Duty
She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come…
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

LOL, sorry to make it so tough, Sherry!
Oh they’re both intriguing and new to me
I thought so, too. 🙂
Went with 1. Have no idea why as they both sound good.
LOL, gut instinct it is, Lorna. Thanks!
Protecting What’s His is my choice.
Yay for your vote, Nadene!
Both are great choices from fabulous authors. I am such a fan of Buchman though, love a male romance author who writes great stuff.
I love his lady military pilots series and his Army Ranger series, too. 🙂
Oops, make that Delta Force not Army Rangers
I like the sound of Pure Heat! It has just a slightly better rating on Goodreads, too. I’m going to check out the series!
I did, too. Love wilderness firefighter stories. 🙂
those both are hot covers with even hotter blurbs but book 2 is saying something lols
Hehe! Bring the heat! 🙂
I voted for Pure Heat, but these both sound good. I hope you’ll enjoy whichever one wins!
Tough pick, right? Thanks, Lola!
I’m going with Pure Heat!
Appreciate your vote, Radiant Ro!
I went with #2 because I have enjoyed everything I’ve read by Tessa Bailey. I hope you enjoy whichever you read!
Hey, great endorsement for a Tessa Bailey book. Thanks for voting, Berls!
