Each month, I will post up a pair (or more) of books. I would like you to vote on a choice. Yes! You will have the job of telling me what to read from my pile each month. I welcome your vote no matter what reason you choose (frivolous, serious or otherwise) that particular book and do share your reason in the comments just because I’m nosy. I will of course share my thoughts on the book itself in my review post.
I’m not doing a theme for this month’s choices unless ‘Catching Up’ can be styled as a theme. LOL I have a couple older review books that I need to get to so for this month’s TBR vote..
Candidate #1
Virgin River by Robin Carr
#1 Virgin River
Contemporary Romance
Blurb:
Welcome back to Virgin River with the book that started it all…
Wanted: Midwife/nurse practitioner in Virgin River, population six hundred. Make a difference against a backdrop of towering California redwoods and crystal clear rivers. Rent-free cabin included.
When the recently widowed Melinda Monroe sees this ad, she quickly decides that the remote mountain town of Virgin River might be the perfect place to escape her heartache, and to reenergize the nursing career she loves. But her high hopes are dashed within an hour of arriving—the cabin is a dump, the roads are treacherous and the local doctor wants nothing to do with her. Realizing she’s made a huge mistake, Mel decides to leave town the following morning.
But a tiny baby abandoned on a front porch changes her plans…and former marine Jack Sheridan cements them into place.
Candidate #2
Into the Dark by Karen Rose
#5 Cincinnati
Romantic Suspense
Blurb:
Michael Rowland is not your typical teenager. Deaf from birth, he’s always looked out for his five-year-old brother, Joshua. When his stepfather comes after Joshua, Michael takes the child and runs. He’s determined to protect his brother at all costs, even if that means making himself vulnerable to a danger he can’t hear coming. And the danger intensifies when Michael witnesses a stranger kill his stepfather.
Desperate and afraid, the boys have nowhere else to go but to Joshua’s soccer coach, journalist and ex-Army ranger Diesel Kennedy. When Diesel sees that Michael is injured, he takes them to see Dr. Dani Novak—not only because she’s fluent in American Sign Language, but because he’s drawn to her and everything she stands for. She never refuses Diesel’s requests—because she, too, feels their connection—but she resists him for reasons she doesn’t want to confess.
When Dani and Diesel learn that Michael saw the face of his stepfather’s killer, they fear for his safety. But they quickly discover that it’s even worse than they feared: They may have a serial killer on their hands—and all signs point to Michael as the next target.

This was hard for me because I had just watched the first part of Virgin River on Netflix a couple of days ago. I went with Rose’s because it sounds exciting.
I feel like I’m always making it a tough choice for everyone. 🙂 Yes, her books are always very exciting.
Oh, boy this is a tough choice, because I love both books! I think I’m going to have to go with Virgin River because I just love it and the rest of the series so much. I hope you read both books, though. 🙂
Yes, I was feeling a little guilty for being cruel with this pair of choices, Rachel. 🙂 I do hope to read both books, but one of them will be first. LOL
wow…..this is such a tough decision…..I think I would lean more with Karen Rose because of the thrills but you can never go wrong with Robyn Carr.
I’m so sorry. I made it a tough one this month, Renee. 🙂
I voted for Virgin River as that cover looks so peaceful. The description sounds interesting as well. And the setting sounds nice too.
Yes, that cover just makes me feel so calm. 🙂
This was a tough choice. Both are really interesting in very different ways. Hope you love them both!
Yes, it a tough one because they both have great things to pull me in. 🙂 Thanks, Sarah!
I think that either choice would be a good one. I picked Into the Dark for really no real reason 🙂 I hope you enjoy whichever book you end up reading.
Gut feeling? That works for me, Carole. 🙂
OMG… I’m reading the blurb of the first one (didn’t read the title) and I was like “This sounds so familiar!” My GF just started watching this on Netflix. She said it’s good. So I give it my vote.
Yes, LOL, its a hit show I think (still need to watch it after I read the book). I read a few others from later in the series, but never this first one. Thanks for your vote, Jen. 🙂
Both books look good, and I guess it would depend on what mood you’re in. However, I’m voting for Virgin River, because it’s a sweet romance, and I love the Netflix show.
They both looked good to me as well and yes, for very different reading moods. 😉 Thanks, Lindy! I hope to watch that show soon.
#2!!!!
Have you read Karen Rose’s stuff? So good, Carole! 🙂
