Each month, I will post up a pair (or more) of books. I would like you to vote on a choice. Yes! You will have the job of telling me what to read from my pile each month. I welcome your vote no matter what reason you choose (frivolous, serious or otherwise) that particular book and do share your reason in the comments just because I’m nosy. I will of course share my thoughts on the book itself in my review post.
This month, my focus is on the New Adult genre. I don’t read many from this age range, but I need to for my Romanceopoly challenge and I do have a few on the Kindle shelf that need to be read.
Candidate #1
The Deal by Elle Kennedy
#1 Off Campus
She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy…
Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice… even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.
…and it’s going to be oh so good.
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
Candidate #2
Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole
#1.5 Sweet Home
You met Romeo Prince in the Amazon & USA Today bestselling novel, Sweet Home. Now hear the story from his lips: unbarred, uncensored, and raw to the bone.
It makes me laugh when I hear folks think Molly and I rushed into things too fast, spouting that we couldn’t possibly have felt what we did for each other in such a short space of time. I say, how the hell would they know? We made it, didn’t we? She became my whole life, didn’t she? And as for my folks not being real, being true? Tell that to me aged ten, eleven, twelve—damn, all my bastard life—when I was never enough, when I was beaten until I bled for being too good at football and not being everything they’d dreamed: the perfectly dutiful son. Tell that to thousands of kids around the world getting wailed on by asshole parents for whatever stupid reason; tell them evil don’t exist in their eyes.
Fuck Romeo and Juliet. This is the story of me and my girl, from my lips. No mushy sentiment, no cheese, just the plain, hard truth, and, because I’m feeling generous, I’m going to let you in on more of our story too.
Sweet Rome is a New Adult Companion Novel to Sweet Home—contains adult content, sexual situations, and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

Yeah, college football was a nice Saturday afternoon relaxing entertainment around here in the fall. 🙂 At least I can read about it.
#2!!
Two sounds good. Thanks, Carole!
I voted for The Deal as I’ve seen that one around a few times.
Yes, it’s gotten some really positive reviews.
I loved The Deal! That’s my pick for sure. 🙂
Cool! Knowing you loved it is a big deal since we tend to reach for similar books. 🙂
The Deal was so good. I loved that whole series. I read one of the Rome books. It was bit melodramatic, but ok.
Neat that you read them both and loved one, Sam. Oh no, I’m not big on too much drama. LOL
The Deal! – loved that one 😉
Please consider, if my vote didn’t go through.
Will do. I’ll count the votes and make sure it at least equals what are in the comments. 🙂 Thanks, Velvet!
Voted for The Deal which I have actually read. The other one would fine if you had read book one. If you hadn’t it probably wouldn’t make a lot of sense. It’s a companion book to book 1. So yeah, The Deal.
The Deal is one that has been highly recommended to me.
And, yep, I’ve read the whole series except this companion book so either way I’ll be fine. 🙂
I have seen The Deal on quite a few blogs and readers seem to love it, that one has my vote!
Oh yes, I’ve seen all the love for it, too, so I’m curious to see what everyone loves about it.
