Last year was my first time participating in this event. I didn’t realize how fun and exciting I would find it both rolling out my own lists, but also checking out other participant lists. And, here we are again…
Though not as many as in the past, I still read a staggering amount of books this year. I point this out because it makes narrowing down my favorites to ten is excruciatingly difficult. Therefore, here’s what I’ve chosen to do. I’ll give you ten of my favorite 2020 reads not necessarily published this year though most of them are. I’ve also scattered more of my favs into other Top 10 posts throughout the week.
So excited to share these. In no specific order:
Cross Her Heart by Melinda Leigh, Romantic Suspense
I love the blend of series story and edgy murder mystery.
Deviate by Jay Kristoff, Young Adult Dystopian, narrated by Erin Spencer
It was dark and desperate, but triumphant and the characters were fab.
Into the Dark by Karen Rose, Romantic Suspense
Down shadowy streets, cunning killer, wonderful pair, and those boys were stellar.
A Brush With Shadows by Anna Lee Huber, Historical Mystery
Engaging romantic detective pair, gothic tones.
Cowboy Strong by Carolyn Brown, Contemporary Romance
Country charm and such feels for the whole story.
Persuaded to Sail by Jack Caldwell, Historical Romance
Authenticity, riveting story of characters and romance after the wedding.
Wolf Untamed by Paige Tyler, Paranormal Romance
Series strength, Relationship between hero and heroine’s son and heroine
Intermittent Fasting for Beginners by Amanda Swaine, Nutrition and Health
Easy Reading, Easily Applicable
White Out by Adriana Anders, Romantic Suspense
Setting, Pulse-Pounding Excitement
Subversive by Colleen Cowley, Historical Dystopian Romance
Blend of Magic and Suspense in a mash of genres, Main Characters
Did any of these make your Top Ten? What DID make your Top 10? Feel free to let us know in the comments or leave your own link so we can catch your favs.

These are some great choices. Thanks so much for joining with us! I love that Subversive cover. I’ve enjoyed Cross Her Heart, Whiteout, and Into the Dark. I’d like to read some of the others too.
That series of covers are all so gorgeous in a haunting, magical forest theme.
Oh good, there are some good ones here. 🙂
Happy to join the event! Fun times!
I’ve been wanting to try Huber. and Whiteout looks right up my alley!
I practically binged the Lady Darby series earlier in the year. Whiteout was a rush! 🙂
Another list where I have read none, though, I could see myself reading some cowboy books.
LOL, I said the same thing on your list, Sam. 🙂 Fun adding to my read list by checking out all the lists.
So many interesting books/authors. Have only read Carolyn Brown, but not this one. Will check them out. Happy reading for 2021
Yes, it’s fun to see what is on everyone’s lists. Carolyn Brown’s books are fab. I had to actually figure out which one I had to narrow down to put on the lists or there would be all the ones I read by her.
Thank you, Bev! Have a merry one, too.
I’ve not read any of these. Subversive and Into the Dark look especially good!
I just finished the third book in the Subversive trilogy and loved them all. Oh yes, Karen Rose’s books are amazing. You really must, Lorna!
There are a couple here I’d love to try. Thanks for sharing your list.
Oh good! Glad to tempted you with a couple, Velvet.
Thanks for the list! I’ll take note as I haven’t read any!
Yes, it is fun reading everyone’s lists and looking for new books to try.
Nice list! I haven’t read any of them but they all look really good 😀
Cool! Hope you find one from the list to enjoy, Carole!
Great list! I always like seeing what people’s favorite reads of the year were. No way can I narrow it down to 10, so I always end up with a larger list as I only do one. Mine will be up later this week. None of the books on your list I’ve read, but I remember seeing some of them on your blog. You have me curious about Into the Dark and A Brush with Shadows sounds great too.
I am right there with you, Lola. I love reading everyone’s Best of the year lists. I like to be reminded of books I loved, too, but also find new ones I might like. I’ll look forward to seeing your list. 🙂
I loved Into the Dark, A Brush With Shadows, and Whiteout, too! I’ll have to check out your other Top Tens as well. I think I’ll post mine next week because there were a couple of books I wanted to read first. I think they are going to be favorites. 🙂
Great minds read alike? LOL Yes, that’s a good plan. Ive read two since I made the lists that probably should have been on this list. 🙂
