Wonderfully creative and passionate sex scenes, that will leave you fanning your Kindle not to burn up, but little else about the story grabbed me. I felt kind of blah afterwards without the euphoric high I was hoping to have. If you want to get your limbido up, this will do it for you!
*gasping for breath* If you want heat, sex, and dominant men with a virginal heroine, this book is for you. Be warned though, I found it to be over the top cheesy, sickenly sweet, but also naughty enough to keep you reading.
Javier Santiago is grieving the loss of his dead wife, but not out of love. Instead he hits the bottle in guilt over not doing more to save her from self destruction. It doesn’t help that her lover killed her in a foreign country. Needing someone to blame, he takes his anger out on his younger brother, Xander. When Javier begged Xander to become his wife’s Dom, Xander flatly refused for many reasons. She wasn’t submissive and that would have made Xander an abuser, not a Dom. Trying to save his older brother from the bottle he is drowning his sorrows in, Xander kidnaps his brother. Giving his brother six weeks to turn himself around or he will go to the board of directors with just how bad their company is doing.
Xander isn’t so squeaky clean…in fact kind of dirty and a man whore. He has a great group of friends (Wicked Lovers), but he is also a Dom to the bone. Having a MBA in business, he has been pushed out of the family business by his equally dominant brother. So what else is there to do…well, bang anything that has a vagina and two legs…and maybe two legs aren’t required either. Javier said at one time that he had slept with over 5000 women, which Xander kind of agreed with. Xander is bored, but still not willing to give up the women. He wants to help his brother, but also be part of the family legacy.
London McLane is the submissive to take on these two men and show them the error of their ways. Dealing with her own secrets, she is just starting to live life and what better way than taking on two dominant men and being the sweet, virginal thing they both need. *gag* Well, I can’t say I totally didn’t like London, but really, I got tired of her totally innocent, let me serve you crap. An accident when she was 15 left her in a coma for two years and 8 more years of PT to just walk and talk again. So yes, she is trying to live life and having a fling to get rid of her v-card is right up my alley. Throw in conflicted feelings for loving two guys, not wanting them to see her scars and all the other crap that she brought and I just got bored.
Re-cap: virginal 25 year old falls for two alpha, dominant brothers, who take her in every way possible while she stays sweet and innocent. I just wanted to scream! So the sex was hot, dirty, sweaty but really lacking in BDSM. A small spanking, double penetration of two men, tied up and made to not wear panties. It was kind of formulaic and boring. In fact after the first two sex scenes, I was skimming them because I was so tired of the guys going on and on about how beautiful she was, how wonderful she was, the center of their world, goddess of all, etc. Get on with it and shut up guys!
While I want to love this Wicked Lovers series, very few of them have been a story I want to come back too. I just want to throw them at the wall and scream. So, what woman doesn’t want to be called beautiful and a goddess…I know, but how many times do we have to read it before we move further into the story.
Throw in that the man who killed Javier’s wife is still out there and someone is sabotaging the company. London is the administrative assistant to Javier, Xander takes on more responsibility as Javier allows him, and the three work as a team to get it all taken care of. One of those better together than apart groups.
So if you are looking just for sex and lots of dirty, sexy moments….this is for you. If you want a good romantic suspense….look somewhere else. Want believable love story…look somewhere else. This is more fantasy and not at all like I would imagine a real life menage to actually work.
