Are you ready for some football?

Ok, I just had to say it. Football is my sport of choice to watch. They have one of the shortest seasons and each game is usually exciting. Big men tackling big men? Yep, I love it.

So when I started blogging a few years ago, I wanted more sports romances. It wasn’t easy to find them like it is today. So that got me to thinking which football romance was my first?

The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton

This cover had me panting to meet Mick and his lovely heroine Tara. It’s the first book in the Play by Play series that follows family and friends of sports athletes. The Perfect Play was my first sports romance, football romance and first Jaci Burton romance. Popping cherries left and right here. I came to love Mick as he fought alcoholism in his youth, strived to be the best and found the one woman who completed him…and had a teenage son. As the series has continued, I haven’t found it as fulfilling as the first book. But oh, the covers get me every time!

So what was your first sports romance? First football romance?

I knew this about you and its good that you do love your sports romances b/c this is one of my neglected areas. To my knowledge, I haven’t read a football romance. *gasp* I do have Marie Force’s Line of Scrimmage partially finished if that counts? LOL I will eventually deal with this shortcoming of mine. I actually have four sports themed romances in my review pile though 2 are MMA fighting and two are baseball (my fav sport).

The first three books in the Play by Play series are the best. I am hoping they get a reboot soon because I just haven’t fell in love with the last 5. I haven’t been able to get into baseball my entire life. I used to love basketball…being from Indiana you have to love basketball…but with over 100 games in a season, it was just too much. I like how there are 16 games in regular season and a few weeks of playoff then we are done!

Yep! You’re so right about the longer basketball season. My dad coached and I was his stat keeper through highschool. I didn’t play at college b/c of the long season. I lost interest in watching a couple years ago when they went on strike and I got used to filling my time elsewhere. Still can’t focus on hockey even though its uber popular around here. But oh Baseball…that I couldn’t help playing and now watching. I like watching football too, but I don’t live where I can catch many of my 49er games so I tend to just watch when… Read more »

I read a couple of sport romances. There a series by Rhonda Laurel, The Blake Boys. Its about football and I loved the first book in the series, For The Love of the Game…I’m goiing to pick the other two up this month.

I love watching footlball too, but know as much as I use too. Since my youngest is a basketball fan…its our sport of choice.

Oh yes! Basketball… Come to think on it; I don’t remember seeing any sports romances in a basketball setting.

Being from Indiana, basketball was bred into us early. But with over 100 games a season, I just haven’t kept up. Football helps with my ADHD issues, lol. I will check out The Blake Boys. Sounds like my kind of guys!

I started this series and liked te first books, but never got to read the others. I know Bella Andre has a sport series too. I like these sports books, but they don’t make a huge difference for me in the plot, prefer those military men.

I am with you there Mariana. Military guys for me too. Jeanette Murray writes both sports and military romances if you haven’t tried her stuff yet.

Yep, Jeanette Murray writes both. I reviewed her football book (not sure if more came out) -http://delightedreader.com/review-the-game-of-love-by-jeanette-murray/

I have read Bella Andre’s football series as well. Don’t forget to check out Jami Davenport’s…they are pretty good too.
Love Military Men…maybe we should try that one soon as well.
